Sorry, but Harper's not really unique either. It's getting pretty popular. I gave you a link on your other post that might help come up with some other name ideas.
Honestly, it is SUPER trendy, IMO and not unique at all. It is the current "go to" name for people looking for a unique name that they can claim links to literature and makes them smart so on and so forth. I really dislike the name. Plus it is unattractive, agree with pp - sounds like Harpy.
Honestly, if you like popular names, use them. Us a name you love and to hell with everyone else. You know, those names are popular because they are GOOD! There's nothing wrong with using one of them.
I've liked it for a while...before all of the celebs started using it. It's on my list but I don't think I'd ever use it. It's a little too trendy for my liking. I don't know any Harpers IRL though...so who knows. I am turned off more by names that are popular where I live (ex: Avery, Aiden, Lily etc) than those that seem popular/trendy elsewhere.
I also like Harlow.

If DS was a girl (pre-Beckham baby) he would have been Harper. DH and I love the name. This is another one that I see ALL OVER the internet/baby boards but NEVER met one IRL or heard of someone naming their baby that. DS is in daycare, we do Gymboree classes, music class and baby soccer and my mom is a teacher and we have never heard it. I say go for it!
We love it, obviously. I hear on here how trendy it is, but I don't know any in our area. I teach and come from a family of teachers, so I feel like I know a lot of kids.
Wow, sounds like a lot of people hate it! But I think it's really cute. It's too bad, all the names I've always loved are now "trendy," but I don't really care...I say if you like it, use it!

1) I don't like occupation names
2) This name seems really trendy, so I'd be over it by now anyway.

It's not popular in my neck of the woods... near the eastern side of the US/Canada border I might add.
Harper is just not "pretty" imo. Somewhat harsh sounding. I'd prefer something like Harlow. I guess I'm just not a fan of -er ending first names.
