I met up with some friends today and two more moms joined the group. One has a son who is 15 wks and she does the cereal in the bottle at night and purees during the day. I couldn't help myself, so I told her research says it doesn't make a difference with sleep. Then she was about to put sunblock on him and I tell her it's not recommended till one. It's better to keep him in the shade.
Why can't I bite my tongue? Then she talks about JJ shampoo and I finally stopped talking. I should not have said anything. Nobody likes a know it all. I told her not to take my word and do her own research, but I feel bad I said something in the first place. Anyone else feel like this?

Personally I wouldn't have said anything. I put sunblock on Riley when we go out, and I use J&J Shampoo. Everyone is different.
Personally I'd rather be safe than have a baby with a sunburn, and I don't think J&J would be in business for sooo many years if they had harmful products

This exactly! I have an incredibly pale child, and know from personal experience that it is possible to burn in the shade AND that it is possible to blister in just 10 minutes (seriously, I think I am part vampire!) I will not risk subjecting my child to the painful sunburns when it can be avoided. Plus, sunblock and sunscreen are different.

I put sunblock on A last summer (well before she was six months). We live in Texas where it's very hot, and we have multiple swim parties every summer. I used Nutrogena Pure and Free Baby. It was on the safe list according to a dermatologist I know. I'm sure someone will argue otherwise, but A was fine, and I felt it protected her. I will do the same this summer.
As for the cereal in the bottle thing. No, they don't recommend it, but your friend already does it. She clearly believes in it. Saying something probably didn't change a thing for her.
As for J&J shampoo....well, I really don't get the big tado. I guess I should save it for FFFC, but we use it. I even use the lotion. Feel free to tell me how awful I am now.
Here it is!

Nope. Having 3 kids and using this site for at least 6 years doesn't make me any kind of an expert on anything. I do not give advice when it isn't asked for. If someone asks my opinion, I tell them exactly what I think, but I always follow it up with "do what you want -- what the hell do I know?"
I've defriended quite a few know-it-all moms (mostly first timers) from Facebook. I just don't need or want unsolicited advice.
We use sunblock, J&J shampoo AND lotion. If someone I barely knew told me I shouldn't be using those things, I would think she was nosy and rude. It certainly wouldn't keep me from using those products.
The #1 thing I hated after Brynn was born was people giving me advice without me asking. I'm pretty sure that almost EVERY mom is doing what they think is best, whether you or I or anyone else agrees or thinks they know better. That being said sometimes I have a hard time biting my tongue around my good friends, but if I can't find a way to bring it up at a different time as a discussion, not outright telling them, I won't say anything.
We used sunblock at 6 months...if you're gonna be out in the sun, you should use it. And I am quite certain they recommend not using it before 6 months, not a year.
I also use J&J.
It sounds like you were sounding like a know it all that didn't really know it all. That's what I would have thought.
