DD pulled her NG tube out on Friday. I spoke with the GI and he said to leave it out over the weekend. She did okay taking in about 14-16 oz each day, but she was fussy and I thought she had an ear infection. Yesterday, we went in to see the GI and have it put back in and he decided to leave it out for a few more days to see how she does. The nurse and I were both really shocked we had everything ready to get the tube put back in.

Once we got home, DD started to really eat up a storm she took in 16.4oz per oral (PO) yesterday - which is her new record. It is almost like the light went on and she suddenly understood suck, swallow, breathe. Instead of sucking just a little bit and then pushing the bottle away she is taking down 10-30 mL at a time. Fingers crossed she continues like this.

DS can read books! Well the pictures at least. He reads Baby Bear, Baby Bear what do you see; Charlie Brown; and Cat In The Hat.

Every time he sees the Cat In The Hat on every page he tries to say "Cat In The Hat."

Amelie said her first swear word yesterday, and in the right context. I didn't know whether to scold her or laugh. Guess it's time I clean up my act.

Yay for your DD and for your GI being patient! That is a huge accomplishment. I'm sure it is more comfortable to eat without it and feel her own hunger cues, I hope she keeps improving!

We had my son's (almost) 2 year post vaccine injury followup with his methylation specialist today.  We both sat there with tears of joy looking at my son, it was amazing.  Children's hospital gave him 6 months to live, his liver was shutting down, his kidneys were failing, he suffered brain damage, lost his speech, couldn't walk, self injured, screamed 10 hours a day, we couldn't touch him due to his pain levels, the list goes on and on and on.  But today we got to celebrate a very healthy little boy and it was amazing.  I still can't believe most days we have made it through this nightmare.  All of his testing checked out perfectly today.  His doctor gave me a huge hug and said "He's in a good place, exactly what we all hoped and worked for.  I don't need to see him again for at least 6 months unless you need me."  It was awesome.

After months of having scream-fests every night at lights out time in his bed, all of a sudden after daylight savings time he is going to bed without so much as a grimace. I noticed that he was staying awake for quite awhile in his bed and was finding random toys in his bed in the morning, which means he is getting out of bed, retrieving a toy, and playing with it quietly in his bed before falling asleep! For other pdd-nos moms- maybe you also have the issue of DS not having the gumption to get out of bed independently. Last night I told him he could have a stack of books to read and sure enough, 30 minutes later he was sitting in bed quietly paging through books after bedtime. Pretty awesome.

My parents came home from being away since December and they saw a huge change in my boys - in eye contact and play skills. I am so proud of how far they have come!
