We are having a small Baptism(27 people) and wanted to know if it would
be ok to send out an evite?? Has anyone else done this?? Also, any evite
sites that are recommended??? thanks
I'm personally old fashioned and not a fan of evites at all--BUT I will put an email address down on the invites as a way that people can respond and not have to make a phone call (happy medium LOL). But I also don't have an iphone and am not on facebook---so there you go....
I just find for those times where you are asking people to take time out of their day to spend with you, you can take time out to write an invite. But again--I'm very old fashioned that way.

I'll be the minority and say there is nothing wrong with it! In the days of Facebook, bumping, and emailing from our phone you are going with the times. I'm old fashioned as well, but my son's baptism was small as well and used as a means of getting out of town family together to meet and celebrate him. I think a formal invite states you are expecting gifts- I wasn't, and I was trying to save money and had him baptized in the same weekend as another family event to have people travel less. I say go for it! Chances are that the same naysayers are the ones checking Facebook on their phones in church!!
I would have some inexpensive invites printed up somewhere and have people RSVP via email. For something so personal as a christening, you should really send out a proper invitation. And if you have to ask if it is tacky or not, it usually is!

Evites are tacky for anything but casual get togethers, IMO You can get cheap invites with the babies picture at Costco/sams club, even wolf/ritz camera. However, if you do put down an email for an rsvp make sure to provide a phone number also. Older attendees may not have an email account.
If the house ain't burned down and the baby's fed it was a successful day.
I don't think evites are nessessarily tacky but I think when you send evites guests to not treat it with as much importance. It is kind of like thank you notes an email feels cheap but a note even on computer paper feels nicer to receive. I say regular invites because it is a special day and you want it treated as such.
Re: Is it tacky to send out an evite for sons baptism?? yay or nay???
