Transported Frozen Blastocyst

This morning my husband and I took our frozen blastocyst from our old RE across the city to the new one. What a process... there was enough liquid nitrogen to last 3 months.

Being at the old RE stirred up a lot of old emotions and I was so happy to be getting the heck out of there.

We didn't know it at the time, but the new RE said they had never had one brought to them that was so far along. (Through this process we learned it's a 4AB). She said it looked great after the trip.

Of course we took photos with the container and photo of the blast. Is that strange? Hopefully it can go into the baby book under "baby's first trip across the city".

We're still trying to figure out when we'll transfer it. I'd love if that was the last cycle we'd need.

  • I hope your little embie enjoyed his/her first trip!!  Good luck this cycle...hope this is it.

I know I have told you before, but I love the picture in your siggy it always makes my eyes well up... I know those feelings all too well.

I am AMA and all tests on H came back normal
3 failed IVF with OE and 2 failed frozen DE cycles
Last fresh hail mary DE cycle starting Feb 2013
    PAIF/SAIF always welcome
  • Glad that you've got everything over at the new RE and I hope that trip is just the first of many you'll take with that little one!

You're not weird at all for taking photos...  we transported frozen pre-treatment sperm more than once, and I definitely took photos of DH with his gigantic silver container of liquid nitrogen and sperm.  Which is a billion times less cute (and definitely more weird) than taking a picture with an embie :)

Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.

IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.

Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

Doesn't it sum up this process so well? We've all been through so much. It's a pity there aren't more laws to help and that others aren't more compassionate.

    Thanks, Jezebell!

It's nice to see you back, even if you've just been lurking. I'm anxious for your next cycle. All of the good weather has to be good for something, right?

We're hoping this is it too. It would be a mega game changer, but at this rate we'll take whatever we can get!

I know that between cycle lull is rough, because there's no real place to go. Please keep us updated on you, too.
