How Long After Home Study Were You Matched?

My husband and I are foster/adopt paretns. We finished our last home study visit yesterday. Should be done by next week. My worker said its possible to get a call even before next week.

How long after your home study being completed were you matched? What ages?

I wish you all luck!

  • We were matched before we had the official copy of our home study.

  • Our home study was approved by our local agency on Jan 25, but we were on a waiting list there.  We went active with a national agency on March 16, had an almost match end of April, and the match that led us to our newborn son early June, he was born 2 weeks later!
  • We were approved June 2011 and still have not been matched. However, we are doing straight adoption through the foster care system. We were not interested in doing foster care.

  • We did not do foster/adopt. We did Newborn Domestic through an agency and were matched 3 months after our HS.

  • We got our first call within a month.  They backed out.  Got our second call within another month.  They backed out again.  Got our third call within another 6 weeks or so...again didn't work out.  Got our fourth call within a couple weeks after that.  That was 3 years ago and now we are very proud adoptive parents!

Our agency made it clear to not get too excited at "the call".  Many times they care calling 3 or so families at once (and won't tell you this) and will take the first one who accepts, or take the closest one, or the most relevent one, etc.  So with our agency/county, it was the norm to get a few calls before you can actually pick up a child.

  • 3 weeks

But we weren't stuck on getting an infant which can make the matching process take a while longer.
