I've been having uncomfortable and very inconsistent contractions since 4ish yesterday. I haven't sat down to time them because I was getting the house ready and then trying to sleep. It's whole belly cramps that sometimes wrap around my back. It seems like when he's moving they last longer and if I move or stretch it brings one on. I get them lying still too, but more infrequently. If I'm walking they are more painful than uncomfortable.
Does this typically continue until labor starts? I'm not sure how to sleep.
Re: Prodromal labor experiences
I had those every evening for a few days leading up until I went into labor...and each time I lost more and more of my MP. It was a total mind *** because mine would go away eventually and be gone again until around 4-5 pm the next day. LOL
I found that they would really stop if I took a bath, drank a small glass of wine and then went to bed. I didn't try to make them pick up because it was always in the evening for me and I wanted to make sure I got my rest.
Rest/sleep if you can. If you don't have a problem with drinking a small glass of wine, go for it. Also, I highly suggest you take a warm bath.
It sounds like labor is around the corner. Yeah!!

I had them the whole day before my labor started after taking castor oil. I bounced on my ball, walked and did some nipple stim. I took a long shower, dried my hair perfectly straight (still scratch my head over that one) and then went to bed. Not even 30 mins after laying down I was in full blown labor and had the baby in less than 6 hours.
Good luck! Stay hydrated, eat, and keep moving (I think that helped me a lot).
Not to scare anybody- but I'm on day 14 of prodromal labor! For me its been like period cramps mostly, with some real contractions and braxton hicks thrown in. They get worse as the day progresses and by evening they can make me pretty uncomfortable. A warm bath helps, though walking and activity seems to make it worse at times and better at others. I'm hoping that all of these contractions and hours of discomfort (imagine medium to very heavy period cramps for 2 weeks) are doing some cervix opening. And that it means I'm close to real labor.
Mostly I'm trying to rest, eat, sleep and get lots of fluids. My midwife has suggested calcium magnesium as a way to lessen uterine activity. I'm learning to ignore the cramps, mostly, and go about my life.
