As of right now, my due date is the day after Thanksgiving. I know that my OB practice tries to have everyone delivered and out of the hospital the day before Thanksgiving if they are due that week. Ugh. I bet they will try to push my to schedule a repeat section. My group will not induce a VBAC unless t is medically necessary and then they try to push for section.

My OB is the most supportive of VBACs in the group. I just hope that he can see things my way!

I am horrified that your OB would induce or section anyone for no reason than to avoid a holiday. You have lots of time; any chance of switching to a more supportive practice?

I've called around... This is the only group that allows VBACs in our area. I love my OB but he is in a moderate sized group that is perfectly fine with 39 week inductions for any reason. It was offered to me at the beginning of my first pregnancy.

If it becomes an issue, tell them no. You can't be forced into anything. I am sure it sucks to be catching babies on Thanksgiving, but that is what they signed up for when they went into obstetrics. Why should you have surgery just because your doctor wants some turkey and pie?

This exactly. If they won't induce without medical indication, how can they section without medical indication? Just tell them no.

Your odds of having a vbac didn't really decrease . . .your odds of going though your whole pregnancy without having a confrontation with your OB about it being *your* body, *your* baby, *your* birth, and *your* choice definitely decreased.

A friend of mines dr kept pushing her to schedule and induction at 38wks. She was not ready at all. No progress at her internal cervix checks and she wanted to go on her own. He scheduled a date anyways after badgering her into it. She called me in tears and was so upset. It was her first and she was terrified her body and the baby just were not ready and that she would end up with a long hard labor and or csection. I told her that just because he scheduled it doesn't mean she has to go. At first she didn't think I was serious. I was. I told her again just not to go. Call and say she wouldn't be there end of story. Call OB office for a 39wk appt and refuse to be induced until after 40wks. She ended up going into labor on her own during her 39th week. Her dr was out of town so another dr delivered her dd. She was much more open to listening to my friends wishes. Turns out the dr was pushing all his patients that were at least 38wks to deliver by a certain day ago he could start his 3wk vacation. Ugh!!

Im not against inducing if the mom is progressing. I was induced at 38wks 2 days but was already 4cm dilated and 100%effaced with bag of water bulging and babys head really low. I wasn't contracting but my body was ready. My dr broke my water and 41 mins later ds was born. So in my case if I would have waited Ibwould have never made it to the hospital 45 mins away had my water broke at home.

Just tell your dr how you feel to get an idea of how hinges will go closer to your due date.

What a bad reason to push a repeat c/s! I hate that this is the reality of it... you should tell them that you will have a repeat c/s if they also get their abdomen sliced open, loaded with fluids and drugs, and have to care for a newborn over their thanksgiving break, just like you will. See what they say....

This. That is insane. My hospital won't do social inductions or c-sections.
