I was looking at little work books for my daughter to fool around with. And I found some from Kumon? And the ones for her age were all tracing ones, like following through the lines and making straight lines to one object to the next. My daughter is pretty smart for just having turned 2, but I dont think she could trace. Can your child trace or could they at 2?
And no Im not that parent that forces my child to do pages after pages of work books (I work in child care and I have parents that actually do this). My daughter is showing interest in sitting down with pens and paper and having me write letters and words and she trys to make letters so I think its something she would enjoy doing. She has flashcards that she got for Christmas that she will spend hours with.
Re: Can your 2 year old trace?
At 2, she didn't. She does now, and every day in preschool they do journals where they trace letters, learn to write letters on their own, and match pictures by drawing a line between them. But at 2 she wouldn't have gotten how to do that kind of stuff yet, I don't think.
my read shelf:
Nope, not even close.
I mean, if there are giant shapes (like on a sign or in a book) he can sort of trace it with his finger, but with a pencil? No way.
I was a little afraid to read your post...recently I feel like mine are behind in everything. Not potty trained...not talking (much)....not tracing. Glad they aren't the only ones!
My daughter isnt potty trained yet either so dont worry
.
I was worried that my daughter was the only one not being able to trace and reading everyones responses made me feel better. I work in a child care center and have for the past 12 years and couldnt for the life of me remember what my toddler classes did or could do. I kinda thought that tracing was too much for a 2 year old.
I made it past my goal I nursed for 1 year and 6 weeks! Im so proud of myself!
