We just found some generic 1st bday crap at party city that was pink and purple, threw it up around the house, and voila. I wasn't really interested in going crazy on a party she won't remember.
I married a ginger.

Under the sea theme because our LO loves water, the bath and his singing seahorse. Im doing green and blue decorations and looking for things that involve crabs, seahorses, fish, starfish etc.

I'm still debating between monkeys or teddy bears. On tiny prints I found an invitation with a teddy bear that I love. On the other hand I was excited to make a cake shaped in a monkey for him.
We're doing Mickey Mouse. I'm not going all out, but I want it to be special. I don't buy into the whole "he won't remember it" thing because there will be a lot of firsts that he won't remember (steps, words, etc.) but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be documented and I shouldn't be excited about it.
Our lives are made in these small hours, these little wonders, these twists and turns of fate.
I wasn't even going to have a party at all, and then I thought maybe I would just to get together with the other parents...but I hadn't even considered a theme. I was also going to go the generic party city birthday route, maybe with a cute cake with a bee on it since her name means honeybee.
Your kids will love looking at photos of their first birthday parties so don't feel like it's something they won't "remember." Plus, it is also something for you, and that's okay, too!
I'm trying to decide but my current idea is a milk and cookies theme. Also considering sock monkeys, retro race cars, or no theme.
DD's 4th birthday party will be two weeks later and we're doing a ballerina theme.

I love party themes! Planning on Seuss for the little guy!!!! Lots of red and aqua. I bought a lot of cute stuff on clearance at Michels the other day to use to make some of the decorations.
We did the Hungry Caterpillar for my older son's 1st bday.
I've got tons of Seuss ideas on pintrest. However, right now, I'm in 4th bday mode. My older son's party is this weekend. 8 kids. Train theme(NOT Thomas!) I have lots of train decor(bought a printable party package). Then the kids are making their own pizza because I am crazy

I just LOVE first birthdays, so many sweet little ideas out there!! Wish I could do my boys over (although theirs were still cute, but now there's Pinterest and Etsy and I would go more over-the-top!). My daughter's first birthday is in 2 weeks, and we are doing a bunny theme, since her party is the day before Easter. Easter Egg Hunt, live bunny for the kids to pet, as well as an Egg Toss (beanbag) game, and my neighbor will paint faces. We have a huge backyard, and I'm hoping this will be the first birthday we actually get to use it (it was 30 degrees at my older son's first birthday, and a pouring down rain monsoon for my middle child's birthday). I may or may not have already started hanging pink tissue poms in our dining room
Mermaids and I can't wait!! I'm totally out of control and having been planning this since she was 6 months old. I have a spare bedroom in my house that I'm using as my command post and seriously need to find another hobby or my husband is going to have to get a second job...

Minnie Mouse https://www.birthdayexpress.com/Minnies-1st-Birthday-Ultimate-Party-Pack/75944/PartyKitDetail.aspx My mom paid for the ultimate party pack, or we wouldn't have gotten everything. I know it's kind of over-the-top, but I know my DD will LOVE it and we'll take pictures so she can see it when she can't remember it. ;-)
We got everything from this site - https://www.birthdayexpress.com/
The party packs are a great deal and the stuff is very good quality. I love the farm one, https://www.birthdayexpress.com/Barnyard-1st-Birthday-Party-Supplies/58204/PartyKitDetail.aspx but my DD LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. . .
