5 Weeks Pregnant

SO THIRSTY!

I don't think I've ever felt so dehydrated, even though I've upped my liquid intake as much as I possibly can without throwing up all over myself. :/ I read about trying to eat fruits with lots of juice instead to help, so I've stocked up on watermelon and apples because I love those. I've also bought gingersnaps so I can try and drink more without feeling so nauseated. And carrying chapstick is making it less frustrating. Anyone else as thirsty as me?

Re: SO THIRSTY!

  • I am! I can't stay out of the bathroom, but I'm soooo thirsty all the time. My mouth and eyes feel dry. I was wondering about allergies - but could it be pregnancy?

  • I'm definitely there.  I feel like I'm getting a drink of water, and two minutes later needing another one.  So glad I'm not the only one feeling the dehydration.

  • I am also very thirsty all the time and also frequently urinating. My sister who is a mommy has been advising me, and she says this is normal. So I just make sure to always have lots of water, and ginger tea and giner ale is helping me with my nausea.

  • Same here! I'm starting to feel like a fish! A good friend of mine was the same way. She was super thirsty all the way through her pregnancy.
  • So I am!!! I thought I was the only one. I'm drinking close to 4 liters of water a day, or more, and still feel parched when I go to bed and wake up. Guess we all have thirsty litter buggers growing inside of us! Big Smile

  • Ah I am so glad someone else is EXTREMELY THIRSTY I thought I was crazy for being so thirsty. I am not a water drinker at all and that is all I have been wanting. I found that sour lemon drops and hard peppermint candy helps a little with my nausea and being thristy problem and like you said the chapstick is a must.

  • So thirsty too!!  My lips are sooooo dry.  I almost feel hungover in the morning because I can't get enough water.  So weird!
  • ME TOO!!! I'm 5.5 weeks pregnant and have been sooooooooooo thirsty all the time! It seems like I never quite feel refreshed and I'm having to pee all the time! The worst is running, the dryness doesn't help here!  I'm hoping it'll go away. I basically have switched completely to water only as my beverage, and I'm making sure I eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and small snacks throughout the day!

Lets hope this goes away soon! but you're not alone!

  • I started switching to healthier eating habits a few months ago. I try to drink 4 16.0oz bottles of water a day. However, I have felt so thirsty the last couple of weeks. I've had to up the amount of water I take on some days, because my mouth is so dry.
  • I've been drinking liquids like crazy.  Ginger ale, water, ginger tea, and chapstick is definitely a must.  It almost feels like I'm trying to get sick, I'm hot, but I'm cold, I'm dehydrated, and I'm tired all the time.

  • I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who can't get enough water!  My lips are so chapped and I can't sleep at night because my mouth is so dry, not to mention the countless trips to the bathroom!  This must be practice for when the baby actually comes and I have to get up at all hours of the night. I brought 3 liters of water to work today so I'm hoping that will make a positive difference!  Hang in there everybody!
  • The weirdest part for me is feeling really bloated because I'm drinking so much water but still being hungry for food. Usually, bloated and feeling full go together. However, I do find that when I keep up with the water that I have less cramping.

  • yes!!! i find myself waking up in the night to cotton mouth.
  • Oh my gosh I have been soooo worried about how thirsty I am! I am 5 weeks and this symptom just started a couple days ago. I see that others are also urinating frequently but I don't really see much of a change in how much or how often I urinate. This makes me this that I am just really that dehydrated. Should I be worried that I am really not peeing that much but still drinking all this water?
  • Glad I am not the only one!  :)  I am SSSOO thirsty and can't seem to get enough water, it is all I want.  That is also probably why I feel like I already have a belly, it's just full of water!!! :)  Hang in there everyone and congratulations!!!!

  • So good to see others are like me! I've never been so thirsty in my life!! I drink  about a gallon  on of water a day!!!!

  • I'm not alone! Thank goodness.  I have always been big on water.  Pre-pregnancy I would consume nearly a gallon of water a day.  Now I can't seem to get enough of the stuff, and when I do, my stomach revolts!  It's as if I'm suffering from a baby hangover.   I have been consuming ginger ale to settle things down, but was beginning to be concerned about my sugar intake.  Thanks for the tips about ginger tea.
  • Last week I was SUPER thirsty all the time.....to the point that it was becoming very fustrating AND annoying.  I kept waking up with a very dry mouth and I would down bottles of water in the middle of the night.  I started drinking a bottle of water every night before bed and I guess that helped because it seems to have gone away.
