So my chiropractor says he can do muscle testing and predict the gender of the baby. He tested me 2 weeks ago and said he would test me this week and if he got the same result both times he would tell me what gender he got.
Note: He has about 20 other pregnant women customers, his wife just had a baby and he said he has tested over 100 women and only been wrong once and it wasnt his client so he shouldnt have even tested her.
So anyway he tested me again today and said he got GIRL both times! We were hoping for a boy because DH already has 2 daughters but oh well we are excited! Obviously not gonna go out and buy anything until our 20 week US but still exciting!

You have to hold up your arm and he pushes it down while touching your stomach or back with his other hand. He does the same thing to test all different muscles in your body, sounds weird but he isnt the first chiropractor I have had that has done the same type of testing.
THIS!
I can't trust a chiropractor as far as I can throw them. Let a real medical professional tell you not a chiropractor.

I'm an advocate for chiropractors and their contributions to maintaining overall health, but I've read up on autonomous nervous system testing (aka muscle tests) and I'm not 100% sold on the theories yet. Mainly because there isn't a lot of research on it to begin with, and the research that is out there is biased towards the people performing the tests and selling it to patients.
However, it is fun to try to predict gender early. I just wouldn't get your hopes up quite yet!
This is applied kinesiology and a lot of alternative health practitioners use it for various reasons. Like most everything else, one gets better at it with practice and seems that he's had lots of practice with it!
I'd love to know if your US confirms his prediction.
This is ridiculous.

This and Ive had this done during therapy and at first I thought it was a little weird but it worked. Who are we to say what works or doesnt work?
You keep telling yourself that.
Some women get off on being rude.
Anyways--I think its great! My sister had ulcerative colitis and was told she'd have to wear a bag for the rest of her life. Instead my parents took her to a chiropractor after instruction from a natural doctor and a year later she was symptom free.
Just because you don't believe in it doesn't mean it isn't true. Some of you women will feel really stupid when in 10 years the medical doctors start using this stuff after proving it actually works.
My husband and I are both chiropractors. We work for a local hospital and treat back pain and musculoskeletal complaints ONLY. As far as I'm concerned (even though we are unfortunately the minority in our profession), chiropractors should practice evidence based medicine and treat only within their scope of practice. Any chiropractor who claims to treat autism, cancer, colic, asthma (as well a their intentions may be) is not practicing evidence based medicine. Anyways.. just wanted to spread the word that not ALL chiropractors are quacks.. it's just like any other profession, there are good MD's and bad MD's, good dentists and bad dentists.. the list goes on and on.
Regarding muscle testing .. can not predict gender... and lucky as he may be.. he should not be making these claims
Very well said
Bahahaha!
Winner!
Oh, and in answer to your question "Is it a GIRL?!"---
If it has a penis, it's not. If you see one, you'll know then.
He is probably also glad he isn't a doctor and writing scripts. Most chiropractors disagree with the idea of throwing medication at every little problem. I happen to agree with them. Our bodies were built to naturally heal if we treat them right.
As for the muscle test - that's cool. I'd be interested to know the thought process behind it (before I dismiss it completely simply because it wasn't recommended by the doctor who gets paid to issue U/Ss).

I personally believe that's a bunch of ham, but I have a very good friend who got her allergies taken care of with that kinesiology stuff - and it seems to have worked for her. I always thought it's a mental thing. I'd love to hear if your u/s confirms this. Although, that would just make me think your chiro is a very good guesser.
