Chemical-smelling breath?

I know this sounds weird, but I've noticed a few times lately that DS's breath has had a strange smell, almost like acetone.  I first noticed it a couple of months ago, and then he got sick a few days later, so I figured it was related to that.  I noticed it again tonight...he is eating and acting normally.  Could it be related to anything he's eating?  Dr. Google is saying this is a symptom of diabetes, which has me freaking out.

  • I was going to say diabetes. Sorry :( . I'd take him to the doctor asap just to be on the safe side. I hope it turns out to be nothing.

  • I'd definitely have him checked out. It could be from something he ate or drank or it could be diabetes. I have a diabetic cat who smelled like acetone and that was how we knew to take him in. I would assume it could present the same with a person but safer to call and get it checked out.
