    I'm throwing one tomorrow :)

We're doing a price is right type game. I bought a bunch of baby needs - wipes, diapers, wash, butt paste, etc. and we're going to have everyone guess what each costs and then total it up. The person who comes closest without going over wins. Then all the stuff goes to Mom. Fortunately, she registered for most of it, so I know I got brands she'll use. :)

We're also doing baby food guessing. Not actually my favorite, but it's a coed shower and everyone there is a parent so we thought we'd torture them with it. ;)

My favorite one I ever played as a guest at a shower was one where you make everyone put vaseline on their nose, stick their face in a bowl of cotton balls and see who could shake the most off. Here's a link:  https://www.partydirectory.com/games/g080.htm  (where it says floor, we used paper towels)

  • Loading the player...
  • I am not a fan of games at showers so I always go for the ones that require little work: baby stuff bingo, collecting pacifers from people who have them around their neck when they say "x", unscramble the baby items word etc.

I would check out hostess with the mostest blog. Our do some common themes like"Over the Rainbow, Little Chick, Bow tie and bibs, the abc blocks etc.

    Have fun!

  • For my baby shower my family bought white baby creepers and fabric makers and in groups of 6 or so they designed a shirt and I voted on which shirt was the best.  Not only was it fun for them, but I have creepers to use through out DD 1st year and a memory of my baby shower.

  • Buy a bunch of onesies and some fabric paint for each table.  Guest can decorate their own onesie for the baby.  Buy different sizes so they last a long time.

Nursery rhymes.  Print out a sheet of paper with some phrases from nursery rhymes with a word or phrase missing from each one.  The one that fills in the most correct, wins.

Best game and easiest to do.  Buy a bunch of small favor type items, candles, pads/pens, hand lotions, etc.   Set a timer while the mom is unwrapping gifts.  When the timer goes off, the person whose gift is being opened, wins a favor.  Usually set the timer for anywhere from 8-15 minutes.  Depending on how fast or slow the mom is opening gifts.

  • I've hosted a couple showers lately, and I think the games that seemed to be the most fun were team games, especially if the shower is co-ed. I figured the guys would be more competitive, but the ladies were pretty competitive, too. We did a relay -- get
"baby" ready for bed. I borrowed two of my daughter's dolls. Had a clothesline strung with onesies, socks, little hats, swaddle blankets, etc. One person from each team at a time had to run and grab one thing, put it on, next person, and so on. Last person had to swaddle the doll and put it in mom or dad's arms to sleep. That game was a real hit. Probably helped that we had alcohol. Wink The clothesline of baby stuff also doubled as a decoration and then tripled as gifts for the new parents.

The other game we played at that shower was a "make the baby" game, in which each person had to make a baby out of modeling clay (got it for $1 at Michael's). All the baby's were set on a tray and Mom and Dad chose the winner.

The other thing I loved recently was the guest book thing that we made for Mom and Dad. I used a Smashbook from Michael's, and made a "photo booth" type area. The theme of the shower was superheros, so we made props of masks and things like that. (search it on the hostess with the mostess blog, we just adapted them for super parents and super babies, etc. it actually worked out pretty well.) Anyway, I have a polaroid style camera so people could take a pic, it would print out, use a gluestick and put it in the book. There were cards for advice/well wishes/etc. I thought that turned out pretty well.

Personally, I think a shower can be perfectly successful without games, but I've never successfully convinced anyone of this.
