He'll be in for at least 3 days including surgery day. I can and plan to stay with him the whole time with the exemption of maybe stepping out to eat or shower if I can't there. Hell have a private room. I imagine he'll be drugged up because of pain and they won't want him very mobile so he can heal. Any ideas of what I can do when not holding and snuggling with him? I'm not much of a book person, don't sew or do crafty things. I might ask about this again when surgery gets closer, it just happens to be on my mind now. Surgery is May 7th. Tia
Re: Starting to think about what to do while ds is in the hospital
Our Children's Hospital has free wireless, so I used my laptop to surft the net & watch moveis via Netflix. I als had a ton of magazines that I looked through and a book.
DD2 was a newborn when she was hospitalized and I couldn't hold her much because of all the wires and stuff, so I just watched her a lot. I only stepped out to eat & shower and the nurses were good about staying in her room until I came back. I didn't want her to be alone.
GL -- hopefully the time flies by and your back home quickly!
Bring some quiet toys for DS, some blocks, stacking cups, books, etc.... As for you do like everyone else said bring your laptop.
I have been MIA a lot lately what is your DS having done?
Good Luck!
When the girls were in the NICU, I would bring my laptop. The rooms were wireless, so I could access the internet. My friend gave me some great puzzle books. Those were great.
I also really liked reading to them, so I might bring some books for him.
I hope the surgery goes really well. I can't believe how close May 7th is. The girls are turning one the next day. Time sure is flying.
Liam was in Children's Hospital over the summer and had a private room; it had its own bathroom and shower. Not sure if you're BF'ing or not, but since I was, all of my meals were included with his stay since I was his "food". So that was nice, I didn't have to leave the hospital to get anything (and the food was actually good!) I got 3 meals/day and an afternoon snack.
The hospital was wireless, so I was online quite a bit, watched some shows on Hulu and just watched the regular TV in the room. There was a lot going on, I felt like dr's and nurses were constantly in & out of his room for much of the 3 days, so there were never really long stretches of time that I had to fill.
I hope that helps!
