I read through a couple pages of threads and it just leaves me wanting to buy everything, which I realistically can't! I'm 17weeks with #2 so I have some time to decide, and I'm not new to babywearing--with DD I used a K'tan, 2 peanut shell slings, and a Babyhawk mei tei. I preferred the sling up to 6 months, the k'tan from 4-10 months, and the babyhawk I loved until she decided she was a big girl who wanted to walk everywhere.
I'd like to add to my arsenal but can't decide what would be best--I'll be getting a hand-me-down Moby, and I'm also considering a woven wrap, an Ergo or Beco(DH and I are about the same size so we wouldn't have to readjust much if at all to share this), and a ring sling.
We don't use infant car seats, we go straight to a convertible seat and have to drive to get basically anywhere. DD will be 3 when this baby is born and she has the patience of, well, a toddler! So I want to make sure that I can quickly get babe in and out so DD doesn't have to wait much.
ALSO...I never really had luck BFing in any of the carriers. Not sure if its just bc I was a FTM and didn't have to learn to so I didn't put a ton of effort in(no other kiddos needing anything when DD needed fed, so I could take a break!), or if other carriers would be easier.
I don't want to rent a carrier bc I don't want the responsibility of worrying about if something/someone happens to it (a toddler, 2 dogs, a cat and DH! Pick any one!)
TIA for your opinions, and thanks if you've made it through my novel!
Re: Need carrier opinions
I really like my ring sling right now for errands and in and out of the car stuff. It's quick to put on and adjust, quick to get DS in and out of.
I've breastfed in the Ergo and the Mei Tai. It works a lot better once the baby is old enough to self-latch. Nothing is going to be easy with a newborn. Try looking on youtube for "breastfeeding" and "ring sling" or "ergo" or whatever and you can see how some moms do it.
