pp weight loss--continuous?

For the lucky ladies who lost all their pregnancy weight in the first few weeks, I'm wondering if it came off continuously for you or if it stalled out at times?

Despite working out hard and eating pretty healthy, I gained 42 pounds this pregnancy. I've lost 24 in the first two weeks, and then I just stalled out (and I'm eating mostly clean, EBFing and doing light exercise). Wondering if there is any hope that I'll lose some more before I hit the gym again in a couple of weeks?

I know it may take 9+ months to lose it and that everyone is different. Just wanting to hear some others' experiences.

Thanks!

  • wouldn't it be nice to loose it all in the first few weeks?  I think they only ones that do that are the ones that only gained around 20 pounds or so.  i lost 40 in the 6 weeks and stalled....had to work the remaining 30 off

  • I lost 18lb without trying and then stalled. I have lost another 9 because I count every.single.calorie:( I still have a long way to go!! I use the loseit app on my iPhone to track calories.

  • I gained29 total, lost 18 the first week, down 21 by 2-3 weeks, and then spent the next 6 months easing off the last 8 pounds. I'm still squishy though.
  • Thanks ladies! That's what I suspected (although not exactly what I wanted to hear). Guess I'll be getting to work soon on losing the rest. Good luck!

  • I lost all but 10 in the first 2 weeks. (I gained less than 30). Then it took me another 10 weeks to lose the next 10 - I blame the holidays though!  I didn't do anything special though. I ate what I wanted and barely worked out. I took walks here and there when the weather was nice.

DD is now 19 weeks old and I started WW 2 weeks ago, so now I'm starting to do something. I've lost 2 lbs, and ideally, I get to 10 below my pre-pregnancy weight.

  • I've lost 40 pounds in 8 weeks, and it was fairly continuous, after an initial plummet in the first two weeks.

I think some of it is also how fat you were to begin with. I still have 40 pounds to lose just to be at the top of a healthy weight range for my height. So I don't feel like my body is fighting me on the weight loss, but rather it's glad to lose it.

If however, you were very slim pre-pregnancy then your body may want to hang onto fat for BF etc.

  • I gained 47, dropped 21 in the first 2 weeks, then stalled. At 6 weeks PP I started weight watchers, dropped 15ish more. Stalled again (DS was about 5 months old), got lazy and didn't care for a few months, started tracking calories and walking a month ago and have lost 8 more. Still going. : )

  • I'd give yourself at least 4-6 months to lose the weight. I gained 55 pounds, lost about 20 in the first few weeks, lost all but 10 by 4 months out, and lost it all by 6 months. I'm now 6 pounds below my pp weight. I wish I could take credit for all the hard work, but all I did was BF.
