I flipped through Ina May's book and didn't really like it. My past two births were both medicated-- #1 was induced and #2 I got the epi when I was about 7cm. However, my water hadn't broken yet, and didn't until I was about 9cm. I'm nervous about getting through labor when I hear that once your water breaks labor's more intense.
This was rambling. Anyway, what should I be doing to prepare at this point? Thanks
Re: 20w and thinking about NB-- what should I be doing?
I didn't like Ina May either. It's okay.
I did like Ricki Lake's "Your Best Birth" and Penny Simpkin's "The Birth Partner".
Prenatal yoga also helped me a lot, both physically and mentally.

I did Hypnobabies home study with my first (bought second hand from ebay) and plan on using again with my second. I found it very informative and helpful! It helped remove my fear of labor and actually made me excited for the process! Plus it was a home study course so I was able to relax and do it every night on my own.
I'm not going to lie and say things weren't painful (cause they definitely were!) but the hypno/relaxation techniques kept me calm and grounded throughout my birth so I progressed pretty quickly. My nurses and family couldn't believe how calm and relaxed I was. (At one point after a really bad contraction my mom even said "Whoa! That was a bad one!" but you couldn't tell it was by watching me.) I am looking forward to doing it all over again now!
Definitely an option if you are looking for something informative that will prepare you for the process.
HTH!
