I know it's rare but I was wondering if my ultrasound photo looks like a twin casting a shadow over another twin? My doctor got my u/s results and wants another at 11 weeks to answer some 'questions' he has. I can see why he might suspect twins from the picture (I'm hoping that's what it is and nothing is wrong). Can anyone tell me if they see the possibility?
I'm lurking over here. But I recall an u/s that some people had rather often around that time frame. I forget what they called it (my doctor didn't do one until 20 weeks). Its probably just routine for your doctor. I wouldn't worry about it. Just enjoy your sneak peak at your LO.
Good luck with your pregnancy. I really enjoyed mine.
Your doctor just said he had "questions" but didn't say what they were? Did he tell you he thought it may be twins or are you guessing? It seems like he would have mentioned that.
I'm def. seeing what the OP is talking about. It could just be a glitch in the machine. But keep us updated. Really? Girls...you can't see that?
I definitely see it too!
I can see what she's talking about... The "shadow" that looks like another baby from the extra line underneath it. It might just be a glitch in the machine.
Ok hayweex, step away from the post button! You're just driving yourself crazy by posting every day the pic of your u/s. If you want to know what the doc is concerned about call him. We don't know, Only he does! So step away from the computer and breathe
I know I've been posting a lot but in my defense, I can not get ahold of the doctor until possibly tomorrow so I've had all weekend to wonder what the heck is going on.
And to the people who see what I see; at least I'm not crazy lol. I don't think it's twins but I can see why a doctor might question it.
I'm pregnant with twins and it was very obvious at my 8 week ultrasound. They are small enough that we saw both in the same frame very easily. If you saw the ultrasound screen while it was being performed, I think you would have definitely noticed if there were 2 babies (they usually look from different angles and both should show up). There is a dark area on the upper right of your picture, which I'm not sure what it is, so maybe it has something to do with that? I hope you get answers soon.
the 11 week could be the NT and the "questions" might just be related to your heritage and family medical history. Thats how they put it with my son because im canadian and his father is jewish, the risks for cystic fibrosis and tay sachs are significantly higher and the blood panel and u/s for the NT generally give you the numbers for the risks of the baby being a carrier.
Thanks to everyone who's being nice and supportive or helpful...I don't see why some people on here have to be so damn rude. Sorry that I'm worried and just want more opinions, I really don't think it's hurting you at all. We're all going through the same things, why be snotty to other people?? Geez.
I am sorry you are so stressed out, and the doc really should have been more specific in the message he left you... as an OB he should know that vague messages could cause a new mom to be to panic.
That said, Dr. Google can really mess with your head. I would highly highly recommend you stay away from it until you can speak to your doctor. There are thousands of things he could want to talk to you about, and chances of you speculating correctly are pretty slim. I know it is difficult to just relax. Believe me, I know.. I have suffered a loss.
I am not trying to be rude at all. The added stress isn't safe for you and everything you find on Google is going to raise your stress level up and up.
Again, all that being said. The "rudeness" you received has a lot to do with the fact that we are not doctors. We do not have a trained eye to be able to look at that U/S and know of anything out of the ordinary. We are just a bunch of hormonal women that are experiencing all the same worries and anxieties. Not a single one of us is going to be able to tell you what questions your doctor wants to ask.
I really hope that everything works out and that the questions are about something minor. Keep us updated after to talk to him.. but please please please, for your sanity and ours.. STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLE!

No one is being rude or snotty. Just stating from experience that its not healthy to be obsessed when you have no idea what the doctor is talking about. So chill out. And you want more opinions, opinions that don't matter and are not trained to look at an u/s. So don't flip out if someone doesn't think you're having twins, when you stated in previous post it was a crappy machine anyways. I had to wait a week to find out I lost my baby before, so waiting 2 days to know if it's twins get over it. Chill out and stop the drama. I know this post was a lil rude, but I'm emotional and irrational so I don't care
Re: Possibility of Twin Shadowing Twin?
I don't really think so. But I'm no expert.
Call your doctor and ask what he is looking for. Otherwise you'll go crazy wondering if it is twins or something bad. Stress = bad for momma.
