How long after delivery did it take for your numbers to return to normal? Really, what I want to know is this...when will i be able to eat a milk shake?? Thanks!!
After DD1, my numbers took a day to stabilize, but I was allowed to eat normally by breakfast time (delivered just after 1 AM). After DD2 they only tested me once, shortly after delivery, and it was in the 80's so they let me eat as usual.

I ate a cheeseburger, fries and a snickers bar within hours after delivery and my numbers were fine. I was on insulin with him. once you deliver the placenta you should be fine.
I have not had it before this(my 3rd pg) but was told I would not be tested after delivery until a month after. Then I would have the 1 hour glucose tolerance test to make sure it resolved. I was told I could return to normal eatin immediately.
My numbers were wonky for a day or two- so they had me on the GD hospital food for breakfast but by lunch they said for me to eat normally and the numbers would eventually stabilize. I was cleared by discharge the next day. Took the 2 hour test at 6 weeks and passed.... GL!
When I had DD, I started eating normally (well, binging on carbs, actually) right after she was born. I don't remember actually checking my blood sugar after labor started...
The hospital checked DD's blood sugar the first four times before she nursed.
At 6 weeks, I had a one hour test and it was normal.
