Hi Ladies, I will be working 3 - 8 hour days when I return from maternity leave. I get to choose which days I work. So my question for all of you is this: which days would you work? Any advice for me?
If you would like to read my novel,
here are the benefits I see of different schedules:
M,W,F: the benefit is that by not having more than one day off at a time, there will be a higher chance that I can let my emails sit for a day and respond when I am back in the office (whereas by having two consecutive days off during the week, there will be a higher likelihood that I will need to log in to take care of email on my days off).
M, Th, F: For some reason I like the idea of having 2 days off, 1 day on, 2 days off, 2 days on. Plus, the way p/t here works is that you get paid for holidays if you are scheduled to work them (so for example, if my schedule was that I worked W, Th, F, then Thanksgiving week, I would only work Wednesday but then be paid for Thursday & Friday). We have 11 paid holidays each year, and more company holidays tend to fall on Thursdays and Fridays (if the holiday fall on the weekend, the day off is usually pushed back to Friday), so this schedule likely means a couple more paid holidays per year.
The benefit of one of these two schedules is that less people are in the office on Fridays, so working Fridays means less meetings and more productivity, although it does increase the chance of needing to come in during the week for an occasional meeting.
M,W,Th: DH & I tend to do a lot of 3 day weekend trips, and I like the idea of not having to use vacation days for taking off Fridays.
Appreciate any advice you might have. Thanks!

Re: Part time - which days would you work?
Of those 3 options, I?d absolutely do M/W/Th. I?d absolutely build in a 3 day weekend every week. The holiday argument doesn?t hold any water for me. Looking at my list of the 15 holidays I get, the only one that falls on a Friday this year is ?Thanksgiving Break?. I wouldn?t work 51 Friday?s just to get ONE off paid.

I work part-time, 3 days a week, and work T,W,Th. I like having 3 consecutive work days because on those days I can be completely "on" and get as much work done as possible and then on the 4-day weekend I can completely forget about work. It would be really hard for me to have a day off in the middle of the week because it would take me longer to "get into the zone" of working on my projects. With that being said, if I were you I would either do T-Th or W-F, neither of which were your options but those are just my 2 cents.
I would do MWTh option as well.
But if I really had my pick, I'd do M, T, Th. Working two days straight after a 3 day weekend isn't too bad and I would use Wed to do practical things.
Not that I've thought about this at all.

Thank you Ladies, as always you have very insightful advice! I am not set on one of the schedules I mentioned above, those were just ones I had thought of. I hadn't thought of T, W, Th, but I like that as well.
As I am a FTM I was thinking it would be easier on all of us to not work 3 consecutive days, but it sounds like you all generally think it would be easier on the LO to do so. I appreciate your thoughts!
If you could do T, W, Th, I totally would. I work from home on M & F, and it's really nice to just go in the office T-Th, and have kind of a long weekend (even though I'm working).
