Hi ladies, I have been lurking for a couple of weeks and figured it was time to introduce myself. My name is Laurie and my husband and I welcomed our first child, Ava at 30 weeks and 4 days in February weighing 2lbz 5.7oz.
Ava is now 3 weeks old and doing amazingly well, she no longer requires assistance to breath and has been gaining weight well. We are hoping to start bottle/breast feeding in the next week or so as well. We have our fingers crossed that she may be able to come home in the first few weeks of April.
Now on to the question, I would like to buy a few books to help us prepare for life at home with a preemie. Are there any books you loved or would recommend? Thanks in advance!
Re: Intro and question
Welcome! Congrats on Ava's birth, it sounds like she is doing really well!
Honestly, there are not any great books about life at home with a preemie. You can try some regular parenting books and read them at her adjusted age to get some ideas about developmental things. Many of us like the Dr Sears Preemie Book because it has the most "at home" information but it is still limited. Honestly, that's why we started the preemie blog (link in my siggy) because we were all looking for more information.
Is there anything in particular you are worried about at home? Maybe that would help us point you to the right book.
Our precious girl, born at 27 weeks.

She is beautiful!
My son was born at 30 weeks and he too was 2lbs. He is 8 years old now and is a healthy happy little boy you would never even know he was a preemie! I never found any books it was more a learn as you go along thing! Just listen to your gut and your baby! You will get to know her well enough to know if something is wrong.
I am pregnant with twins now .. and was already told its very very likely they will be preemies too. So I am new to the bump and decided to check this group out tonight.
