Pregnant after 35

Should I call the doctor?

For the past few days my heart has been beating so fast and hard that my shirt is moving and I often need to sit up to try to settle down. I do have high blood pressure and I am a little scared of what is going ... Should I call my doctor?

Re: Should I call the doctor?

  • Some degree of heart palpitations are normal in pregnancy as your body starts pumping more blood, but it sounds like yours might be a little stronger than that.  Esp. with your BP issues, it's probably worth a call to the doctor.

Do you have a cuff to check your BP at home or does your local pharmacy do BP checks?  I think CVS does them, not sure where else.  Maybe that could at least give you some clue if something is going on more than normal pregnancy-related stuff.

  • It certainly won't hurt to get a Dr's opinion. Keep us posted.

  • Yes call! It could be several different things but you don't know until you get checked out!
  • Your OB WANTS to know if there is something out of the ordinary going on - call.  Better to call them and have them tell you it's nothing, than not call and have it get worse and end up being something.
