2nd Trimester

I Want My Baby to Not Have

I was thinking, I can't be the only one who is afraid their baby will get a bad feature from their father.  I have my fingers crossed that my boys don't get my husband's long nose.  It suits my husband because he has a very long face.  My Mother always says, " [My DH] walks into a bar.  The bartender says 'Why the long face?', Oh wait, I got the joke wrong.  It is 'a horse', not [My DH]."

I just hope my boys don't get the E-worth nose.

Any bad features you hope your babies don't inherit?

  • I was terrrified if we had a girl it would get my legs....but boy it is so no worries (now I hope he gets my legs and not DH chicken legs)

  • Oh, and I'm not super-mean, I want my childrne to not have my teeth.  My DH has naturally perfect teeth, I don't want to put my boys or our bank account through braces.
  • FI has had a receeding hair line for a few years now and he's only 23! I really hope poor Noah doesnt end up like that. Oh and FI has bad dandruff.
  • His enormous backside that is shared by his sister and mother. And the "crazy" that runs in the family that he has thankfully escaped.

  • my husbands big nose! He doesn't want him to either!
  • I agree on the nose, my DH has a big one which suits him but might not suit the baby. Also he has slightly down turned eyes but his mothers are much more pronounced so maybe it has made its way out of the gene pool by now. It sounds horrible but its something I think about from time to time. On the other hand, I'd rather the baby not have my round face.
  • It's not so much that DH has bad features, but some of mine are better. Like I have olive skin and he's sort of pasty (except in the summer), so I hope they get mine. And I hope they get my teeth  because the dentist said they're more straight than people who have had braces, and DH has had braces.

I hope they don't get my German nose, though. It fits me--it's not big or nobby, but it wouldn't suit just anyone.

  • I feel ya!  My side of the family has these really adorable button noses. DH's side has big crooked noses.  I'm really hoping for a button-dominance gene.
  • I really hope our child doesn't get DH's eyebrows, especially if it is a girl. He has a pretty bad unibrow.

But, at the same time, I really hope the baby gets his blue eyes!

  • I actually want our kids to take after MH physically. He's got an athletic build, and I am a chubby.

  • I hope my child is not as hairy as my husband! :)
  • I just hope if we have a girl she DOES get DH's eyebrows.  They are perfect, while mine are these crazy bushy things that need serious taming.  I also hope my babies don't inherit daddy's belly, but every man in DH's family has the same belly, so I don't know that it is going to work.  :)
  • I really hope that baby doesn't get my teeth!

And I hope that he/she also avoids my FIL's (and DH's if he didn't workout) fat belly. He looks pregnant all the time.

  • I was born with an underbite and my DH has a strong chin. I'm a little afraid of what that combination may bring and the amount of money we may have to spend on this child's orthodontist.

I also don't care much for his siblings behavior, especially "the red head" so even though I don't think it's a bad feature at all I would prefer if our baby is not a red head.

Soon to celebrate the day we met, even if the day before marks when we said goodbye.
  • My DH has an ENORMOUS nose, like I'm amazed he can stand up straight. It looks like Lois Griffin -- like a giant sideways triangle on the front of his face.

I have an enormous ass. And NOOOOO metabolism. I hope our kid gets his ass and metabolism and my nose and chin lol. (DH has no chin....his face disappears into his neck)

  • eyebrows dh's have to be groomed on a weekly basis
  • I hope our baby doesn't get FI's nose. It's a tad large...
  • My BF's chubby round face.  Smile
  • I hope my kids don't end up with DH's jacked up teeth.  They're overcrowded and all out of place.  I told DH that if our kid(s) end up with teeth like his we're paying whatever we have to to fix them.  DH is really embarrassed about his teeth, but too chicken to get them fixed (he has dentist-phobia).  I don't want my kids to be too embarrassed to smile in pictures like their daddy is.
  • I hope he doesn't get DH's lack of imagination. DH is so not a creative thinker. I always feel bad for him.
  • I don't want my kids to inherit my nose and I don't want my girls to inherit my hips and thighs!

  • My husband's toes! Ugh! They're soooo long, like fingers: he calls them 'tree-climbin' toes'! Yak! And, given that my FILs look exactly like DHs, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this particular trait is heritable...scary, esp. for a girl! They can inherit anything else from him, just not the toooooooooes! Pleaaaaase! =)

  • I really hope our baby doesn't inherit:

    DH's narcolepsy!
    My (mild) psoriasis!

    Unfortunately, both can be hereditary...

In the looks department, I don't think either of us have terribly odd parts that we're too worried about passing on!! Just the medical stuff for us!!

  • I would love for my baby to not have my thighs OR my husband's (and my) negative attitude!  We can never see the "bright" side of things... it's SO frustrating!
  • my husbands TEMPER!!!! sheeesh I think he got it from his dad who got it from his grandad
  • My gene mutations. :-(  And on less of a downer-note, my zits.
  • It's the combos that could be interesting. I'm tall, but short-waisted. He's tall-ish, but long-waisted. Facial features too. Some combos = great. Some = uh, unique? I'm hoping the kid manages to average things out...

But I'm sure as mom I'll blind to it all, which is just fine with me.

  • ooooh i like this game...

i don't want my baby to inherit the flat, wide a$$ from my mil or my dh's weak stomach.

i also hope my kids don't get my cavity prone teeth.

  • I hope mine don't inherit DH's feet. Short, stubby, and they really don't look like a person would be able to balance properly on them. Granted, I dont have the best feet either, but if I had to choose, I'd have to say mine. Maybe the gene pool for feet will decide to take a dive and grab my mom's feet - long and lean and basically perfect.

I hope the baby gets DH's thick, dark hair. Mine's plain old boring brown. However, we both have redheads in our family, so maybe that'll show up.

  • I seriously hope our daughter inherits my teeth and feet. ?DH's family has really bad/expensive teeth. ?One of his cousins had to have all but 6 of hers pulled when she was in high school and then had to wait until she was 19 and the orthodontist decided she could have implants. ?Both he and his sister had massively crooked teeth and wore braces for years. ?DH still has a permanent retainer built in to the back of his teeth (I don't know what it's actually called).

DH's feet are just ugly. ?And his pinky toenail creeps me out because it's almost non existant. ?

My family all have naturally straight teeth and my feet are one of my favorite features. ??

Oh, I don't want the baby to get my negative attitude.  DH is much more positive.  Although, I usually think I am being "realistic."

My head is really round and DH's head is really long (kind of like Burt and Ernie -- me being Ernie).  We are hoping the baby inherits a combination and ends up with a perfect head.

  • I don't want my baby to have my mouth. It's way too small (overcrowded teeth that cost $$$ to fix) and my lips are practically nonexistent. I want him/her to have my DH's perfect, full mouth.

  • Someone else already said it and I agree! I don't really care which features our child gets as long as they don't get the "crazy" that runs in DH's family...which he somehow missed out on. I pray for this everyday.....
  • I hope my baby does not inherit my temper or stubborness and her dad's neutrality. Cliche yes, but my husband truly personifies the Swiss reputation of neutrality. He does not want her to inherit his laugh, which he thinks is way too long and he fears embarasses me. I love his laugh though. Its so loud and jolly and makes me smile everytime. Guess his past girlfriends hated it. Their loss Stick out tongue
  • I hope my baby doesn't get my husband's allergies and his pain-in-the-butt pickiness about food.  I kind of think the latter isn't inherited though, my husband is so picky because he was allowed to be.  Anyway, that's a rant in itself.

I hope that any girl children we have in the future get my husband's hairyness gene and not mine.  I'm super hairy and spend lots of time and money removing hair from various area of my body while my husband has moderately hairy legs and not much at all on his arms or chest.  I know it is inherited because my Dad, brother and sister are all super hairy too and my poor little 4 year-old niece is already kind of hairy.
