These 12 weeks are brutal! How do you know everything is "ok" if you haven't had an ultrasound or heard the hb. Are you just supposed to hope? I mean I have seen stories here about women who didnt know their baby didnt have a heartbeat until they went to the doctors. Is this common? And how long can you hold a baby with no hb? Sorry for all the questions....I am starting to get paranoid I think.......
Re: What if no ultrasound?
i have seen a few women on the tri boards that didnt know they were having TWINS until 20 week u/s.
God, I know! I am in the same boat (11 wks) and my ultrasound isn't until next week. The crappy part is DH and I were so excited to tell, we told our fam. and a few close friends and I am regretting it everyday. What if something is wrong? I guess you just have to be cautiously optimistic in these next few weeks. Hang in there. You aren't alone!
I guess you just have to be positive although it would drive me crazy to wait this long to get a u/s...
They confirmed my BFP with an internal u/s at 7 weeks and I was able to see the hb and then I just had a second internal u/s at 12 weeks....
Think happy thoughts!!! GL
I think that it is easy to fret and worry, especially with the information overload that we now have with the internet easily available. However, missed miscarriages are really rare at any time, and you have already made it to 9 weeks, which means good things for you statistically. Also, you will soon hear the heartbeat on a doppler even if you haven't had an ultrasound.
I had a dating ultrasound at a little over 6 weeks, and as much as it may seem like it would ease your mind, if you allow worries-- like I did for a while-- even an ultrasound wouldn't make any difference. Worry is just a part of being a mom. Now is when you can choose, do you want to be a mom that is consumed with worry over what could happen to your child, or a mom that revels in the wonder of pregnancy and motherhood? You just have to have faith that most women have successful pregnancies. Of course, you have to do everything you can to insure that you are one of them-- taking your prenantals, eating right, not smoking or drinking, etc., but not freaking out can be just as important.
My mother told me that in her day she NEVER had an ultrasound with my brother or I. They just didn't do them unless there was cause to worry. I even have a very green friend who has chosen not to have any with her 2nd and 3rd pregnancies because there was no medical reason to do so. Women around the world have healthy babies with little to no medical care.
I am in the same boat.. no u/s until 20 weeks unless i do the NT at 11-13 weeks.
I keep feeling that same "how will I know if something is wrong." On top of that i have very few symptoms. No real m/s. If it weren't for my sore boobs I wouldn't know I was pregnant. Sounds bad to want m/s but I feel that at least then I would know I was pregnant and still progressing.
Yes, the wait can be awful. I am having my first U/S tomorrow!! They should be able to hear the heart beat at 10+ weeks.. I got to hear it at 10 weeks so I felt pretty reassured at that point. If you are dying to know what's going on you could always rent a doppler to listen to the heart beat youself!
You girls are awesome...I do feel better, but boy I can't wait to see that littler heartbeat flutter!!!
Thank you again and H&H 9 to everyone who feels the same
(and everyone else of couse too!)
