Cole is one of our possibilities if we have another DS. DH loved the name the first time around but we went with Grant. Well he and a female coworker were chatting about baby names and he mentions that we always liked Cole. Well she says, "Like coleslaw? All that name makes me think of is coleslaw. People will call him Coleslaw." Now DH thinks people would call this child Coleslaw. I never even made the connection and I think it's kind of silly. What do you ladies think?

Aww, it makes me think of "Mr. Holland's Opus," when he sings (and signs) "Beautiful Boy" to his son, Cole. "Beautiful beautiful beautiful, beautiful Cole..." Such a sweet part.
His Cole was short for Coltrane, so I think of that too.
I like Cole and think it sounds great against Grant.
But this is why we decided not to share names with anyone we know, other than close family. Everyone has an opinion and can ruin it in an instant!
My DS is Cole, so obviously I love the name
He is 4 and never once has someone called him Coleslaw. My nephew (Who was 9 when DS was born) did think we named him Coal at first, and was so confused why we named him after "the stuff Santa brings bad kids". lol
I will say, however, that people mishear Cole as Joel, Paul, or Colt fairly often. And I've been asked if he was named after the guy from Martin, or the demon on Charmed, or the kid from The Sixth Sense. :::eye roll:::
I love the name Grant also! It's in the running for #2 if its a boy. We might have the same sibset. lol

This is exactly what "Cole" makes me think of - LOVE the name!
I think your DH's coworker is nuts. Ignore her.
The first associations I get are Cole Porter and Cole Haan. Totally good!
Cole sounds so nice with Grant!
Ohhhh, I never watched Charmed but I am very familiar with Julian McMahon (or rather his bare butt) from Nip/Tuck.

I would never think of Coleslaw. I really like the name Cole. I also like the name Coles.
It would me on my list if I wasn't set on a boy's name already.
