Mason&Mama Is there a nurse in the house?

I saw your post about iebarprophen (lol j/k on the spelling) and was wondering if the dose I read online is right.

We have the 100 mg/5 ml dose, and I read 3.75 ml for 17-25 pounds.

Does that sound right?

I am not a pedi nurse, but that seems right to me. I had to grab my box and do some math. My strength is different. That is equal to the dose I gave Mason. My instructions are actually confusing though. It gives the dose by age and by weight, and the instructions contradict each other. I would say that going by weight is way more accurate though. The lower dose says 6-11 months and 12-17lbs. How many 11 month olds are 17lbs or less?

  • Thanks!  The website I went to was very contradictory too because of weight vs. age.

  • The way I see it, I would probably need a different dose of medication than someone who is 400lbs, even if they were the same age. It's the same with kids. In the hospital, I believe that all pedi dosing is weight based.
