  • The only time I wake my LO when he is sleeping is if I have to put him in the carseat for a dr appt. Otherwise, I let him sleep.

  • I wish my LO would sleep for that long during the day. I can't get anything done. He takes little 30 minute naps during the day, but he sleeps great at night, so I really can't complain.

  • As long as your baby is back up to birth weight, there is absolutely no reason to wake them up!  Enjoy the quiet!!

  • She must be your first baby! My son, intentionally or unintentionally, wakes up my daughter all the time:D  I wouldn't wake her up if I can help it, but I sometimes have to take her along to my son's school, etc...so she wakes up when I buckle her in her car seat.  Tough to be the 2nd baby.

  • shes 11 weeks old. and weighed 12 pounds 6 ounces last friday, lol. so she is well past her birth weight:) shes a lil chunker! she actually woke up right after i posted this, but shes still acting sleepy!
  • I would not wake her. As long as she is eating enough/gaining enough weight I would just let her sleep. Does she sleep this long normally?

This is our situation too and was thinking the same "must be the first!"...  Always leave a sleeping baby sleep and if you do need to wake them, never do it when they're in REM sleep otherwise you're in for a SCREAMfest for the next hour or so!

  • I was told to wake her when she had not gotten back up to birth weight and I was breastfeeding.  Once her weight gain had been established the doctor said I could just let her sleep as long as she wanted to.  So, it depends on her weight gain and if you are still establishing your supply.
  • I'd say never wake her unless she's having problems distinguishing her nights & days... However, we keep DD on a strict every 3 hours eating schedule during the day, but let her sleep till she wakes to eat at night.  Even when it means waking her during the day. But i plan on asking the pediatrician about this. This was recommended to us early on & we've been doing it since the beginning (altho she has had no weight problems).  DD pretty much understands night vs. day I think.
