Have you "forgotten" labor?

I have... it's all fuzzy and I can't remember the pain.

  • My mind has blocked the worst pain, but I still remember most of it.  It doesn't seem as bad now though.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • My labor was a breeze--comparatively (I did Hypnobirthing). it was the end of labor and my unplanned CS and recovery that were a nightmare Sad

Now I think of my labor as pleasant (selective memory?), but I know in the midst of it, it was pretty intense, but still very do-able.

  • I forget the pain of the contractions. I remember pretty clearly everything that happened but I forget that OH MY GOD I CAN'T LIVE THROUGH THIS pain that I felt. I even thought afterwards that maybe I won't have anymore kids to avoid contractions again. But since I don't remember the feeling, that thought has passed!

  • I was just talking to someone today about this. I did my rotation in OB/GYN while in my 9th month, and I remember all the women screaming and moaning with labor and thinking "do they really need to scream?" Well not long after, I was having my own labor and though I am not a screamer, I understood the pain they were all in.

I still remember when I was at the height of my pain, telling the nurse that I wanted an epidural and her telling me that since I was induced that this was just early labor and it seems worse than it is because I'm stuck in bed. Well when I finally convinced her to get someone to check, after like an hour of that pain, they were shocked that I was at least 7 cm at that point. I was probably even more because about a half hour later, I was fully dilated.

  • I was just talking to my sister about this; she has a one week old!

We both had induced, natural labors.  It was really nice to reminiscence, and I realized I do remember a lot.  It was long, and I hate Pitocin, but I remember for sure!

This! Although I don't remember a whole lot about the c/s either. But, I got really sick during it, so that may be why. I remember the beginning part though.

  • I was just talking about this with DH. At first we were both freaked from labor and delivery, poor DH was more stressed than I've ever seen him before. I had a natural labor and delivery but it was super long. I say start to finish almost 36hrs.

When we got out of the hospital and were talking it out with our doula, I didn't feel like I ever wanted to do it again (and secretly wished I had an epidural). The contractions were killer but it was the hospital staff save for some miracle working nurses that really but a negative vibe over everything. It made me never want to do it again in that hospital or at all.

But now i'm totally at peace with it and would do it again. It's still too early for DH and he's the one who wants more than one child! Poor guy!

  • I had a glorious epidural, so I don't have too much to complain about.  But up until 6 centimeters I felt it and it sucked, I remember, but now that I'm getting baby fever again, I think I'm forgetting about the pain.

I'm sure I will remember as soon as I get another BFP.

  • I remember it and would totally do it again (short, non-medicated vag birth). However I have not forgotten the hell that was my recovery time and I am not doing that again (3rd degree tear off an episiotomy)
  • Not even a little bit.

  • Not at all. I remember it remarkably clearly considering I'm a very forgetful person. I will say that the days in the hospital after delivery are a bit of a blur, but that is definitely because of the short, infrequent amounts of sleep. But labor, I totally remember all of it. I'd do it again too. I actually hope the next labor and delivery is just like the one I already had. It wasn't bad at all, and relatively short.

  • I remember every painful med-free second of it, including when her head (which never went cone-shaped) came out. It terrifies me to the core that I will be doing it again in 3 months! I should have given myself longer to forget!
