New to The Bump

Introduction - new mommy

Well after browsing some of the boards here for a few months I finally got around to creating an account. I had to think of a user name then I had to take the time to actually register (not quite so easy on my smart phone).

DH and I started trying to conceive back in 2009 and after trying Clomid at my OB's office we went to see an RE. Because my OB had done enough testing before the Clomid my RE really only needed more blood work and a monitored round of Clomid before starting injectable meds. I ended up with my BFP over the summer and after a good u/s at 7 weeks I switched back to my OB's office.

I had some problems in my pregnancy resulting in my daughter being born via C-section a few weeks early. I had been due in mid Feb (I was reading that board for a bit) and she ended up being born on the 27th of January. If she wasn't breech I would have had a scheduled induction. The C went well and she was born healthy. She was lower weight so they had to keep checking her glucose, which was fine every time they checked.

I decided to breastfeed her, which is slow going at the moment. She's had problems maintaining a good sucking rhythm. Between that and her slow gain early on I had to supplement her after each feeding. Luckily our pediatrician had said we could supplement with either expressed milk or formula. It was a rough few weeks having to pump and bottle feed her after she had her time on the breast. She's done with needing supplements and I'm working with her on achieving a good rhythm. She is getting better, it's just a bit frustrating at this point with some of her feedings still taking an hour. I have noticed the breastfeeding board and plan on posting there as well at some point. My phone wasn't liking the forum earlier so I have limited time before she wakes again to use the computer.

So that's pretty much my intro. DD is my first, I've been married 8 years, we have cats, and I'm almost halfway through my maternity leave. 12 weeks sounded so long while still at work, now it's flying past and feels so short. I've been home 5 weeks, have one more which is still disability, then I'm into the unpaid portion of leave. At least I have the option of that unpaid period, it's worth it to be home with DD. (And I made sure to save as much as possible all of 2011)
