3rd Trimester

Oh DH, you thought you were going to be in the clear?

So, this morning I was making my cup of coffee, and DH walks into the kitchen, and with a serious look on his face he says to me "you know, when Kyler gets here, I want you to show me how to put a diaper on right, that way I can help out" I looked back at him, raised an eyebrow and responded with "um, yeah, you thought you were never going to change a diaper? you will be a pro even before he gets here hunny."

Did he really think he was in the clear for that? Ugh, hunny, thats why I love you...

*facepalm*

  • I haven't diapered a baby since I was about 15 (33 now) and my husband never has.  I have images of 3 Men and a Baby where we are Tom Sellick and Steve Guttenburg and little Olivia has pee dripping down her legs when the diaper falls off

My husbands idea is to put her bottom 1/2 in a plastic bag and hope for the best Stick out tongue

  • With all the practice you get with the infinite diapers changes, he'll be a pro in no time. :) The real test is getting them clean when somehow the poop makes it out of the diaper and alllll the way up to the neck, haha. DH and I still laugh about the first time that happened!

yeah... this happened to my sister while we were out to dinner at a nice restaurant... needless to say, we told the waiter to cancel our order that we had an emergency and had to leave asap...  it is deff a moment you will never forget!

  • DH had never changed a diaper, but he was a pro before we left the hospital (didn't hurt that for the fist two day I was tied to the bed with the catheter and leg cuffs - so he had no choice).  I did have to teach him the present wrapping technique for disposing of diapers ;op

  • Yeah, diapering is really not that hard. He'll catch on. We're doing cloth diapers and I already taught DH how to diaper using a stuffed animal. He had it down in about a minute.

  • My husband keeps teasing that we are just going to take the baby into the backyard and hose him down. Silly boy. :)
  • That's really funny, but cute too.  The first diaper my DH ever changed was one of DD's first poops in the hospital. It was a disaster!  He never thought to have the wipes, diaper etc ready and so he just took the old one off and well you can imagine how everything ended!  It's really funny though and we have it on video.

This is us as well. And I think I've held a baby for maybe 2 minutes once in my life. Just gonna have to muddle through :P

Nevermind me, I'm too distracted by my mini-carrots to think properly image

haha...you husband and I think alike. I remember one time when I was about 14 and I was babysitting my little brother. He pooped so bad, and it was so smelly...I had not choice but to put him in the shower and hose him down (he was around 2). My sister and I were laughing and crying from the stink. I will never forget that day ;-)

Omg, I am so glad to hear that I'm not the only totally clueless, inexperienced one here! My big baby experience was holding a few new borns and changing diapers in the nursery during nursing school...  Oh! Thank God! I'm not alone. I think we'll all make it!

  • My DH knows he will definitely be changing a few diapers but when I was reading some of the responses from this post to him he looked terrified. Especially when I commented that the "poop up the back" thing was a fairly common occurrence when I worked in a preschool. DH is slightly OCD when it comes to hand washing and hygiene. That's not a bad thing but it's going to be funny when he has to start dealing with all the messes Baby is going to make!
