My friend is stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. She had a c-section with her first (breech), and is now looking to have a natural VBAC. We have a very frustrating system in our home town. We have three doctors who rotate between patients, and only one of them is comfortable with her VBAC, but she can't always get an appointment with him, and has no clue if he'll actually be the one attending her birth. The last thing she wants is to be pressured into another c-section.
In order to be seen at one of the big city hospitals (and get an actual doctor instead of a whole practice), she needs a referral from one of our hometown doctors, which they refuse to give her. We have no midwives in the area.
She is so frustrated and I don't blame her. I'm just wondering if anyone would be to give some advice that I could pass onto her?
Thanks in advance!
Re: Need advice for a friend
I don't know enough about the Canadian system to help. I'd push to get a consensus or the Dr. who is ok with it to agree to do her birth regardless of if he's on call.
I'm planning a VBAC when we have #2 and I've found the babycenter VBAC board to be incredibly informative and helpful. If she posts over there she might get some info and help.
