July 2011 Moms

Missing anything?

Any working moms out there feel like you've "missed" something because you were at work? My DCP just texted me telling me that DS was standing and just going "Mama Dada" over and over and over again. I'm so excited that he is connecting what he's babbling to real things or people I'm just sad I missed it. I know he will be doing it more and more it's just amazing how fast it goes.

If you're not a working mom but still feel like you've missed something  you can chime in too. :-)

  • Nah. If I didn't witness it it didn't happen.

Definitely this -- we have an unspoken rule that if he does something super new and fantastic, mums the word.

  • My father watches Mason when I work.

Sometimes he gets excited and texts me about something that Mason did. Often he is witnessing something that I have already seen Mason do. I like to act surprised and let him believe that he is seeing Mason do something for the first time. I know how excited I get, so I let him experience that whenever I can.

So far I haven't missed anything major, but that is a fear of mine. The one thing that I wish had seen in person was when Mason spent 15 minutes saying "mama" in his sleep over and over again. At least I got to hear a recording of it.

You are a much better person than I am. I just did the opposite of this today to my DCP (aka SIL).

I think that it is a little different when it is a pround Grandpa.

  • When I was at class Clara learned how to crawl. My sister texted me to tell me, and I was so proud but so sad to miss it. I just really hope I get to be there for her first word and her first steps.

  • I haven't miss anything yet, but I am a little anxious in missing him crawl or saying mama, I'm kind of jealous of DH because he gets to stay with him.
