Anyone follow The Sleep Lady and do the shuffle?

I'm looking for your experience with this and how long it took for your LO to fall asleep the first night. TIA

Re: Anyone follow The Sleep Lady and do the shuffle?

  • I did it with my daughter and the first night she cried for 1 hr 45 mins, the next night was 45 mins, the next 1 hr and then after that point it was no more than 10-15 mins if she cried at all.  She was 15 months old when we did it though so I am not sure if she would have cried less or more if she had been younger. It definitely helped. It was taking us 1-2 hours to get her down at night and I was pregnant with my second and it was draining me.  She used to wake up at night too and after we got through the whole process of the shuffle she stopped waking up.

  • We do TSL but haven't done a Shuffle yet.  My sisters also follow TSL and one sister has done the Shuffle twice with her older daughter.  She followed the book exactly and it worked like a charm.  She is the one who got the rest of us hooked on TSL, haha.  Good luck to you!

  • You should ask the AP board. I think they use the sleep lady shuffle.

  • I did the Shuffle with both of my girls. DD1 was 12 months, and it took over an hour the first night, mostly because she kept standing up. Night 2, however, was maybe 5 minutes before she settled down and another 10 or so before she fell asleep.

We just did it with DD2 last week. She was asleep with no crying in about 30 minutes the first night. Not every night or nap has been easy, but we've reached our goal of all naps and bedtime in the crib, and she's still STTN.
