DC and Formula Intake

Yesterday I went to pickup DS from DC. When I went to get the bottles out of the fridge I noticed that only one, 8oz bottle, had been consumed and the two others remained untouched. I asked the providers about the discrepancy and all of them just shrugged their shoulders. I didn't think I sounded upset or worried, I was more or less wondering if he had accidentally been feed another baby's bottle.

I just received an email from DH who said that one of the providers told him at drop-off that she was called at home because it seemed that I was unhappy about the bottle discrepancy.  Reassuring DH that they try to be accurate but there can be some inaccuracies due to the number of people feeding/recording.Then, DH called me a crazy FTM and said to relax.

Now, I feel like crap because I didn't mean to sound upset nor did I mean to have one of them called at home. Now it's going to be awkward at pickup this afternoon and I'm going to be apologizing all over the place.

Was I crazy or wrong for asking about the difference between what was recorded and the actual bottle intake? I'm new to dealing with DC as a FTM and am not sure really what to expect, what to bring up and what to leave alone.

Re: DC and Formula Intake

  • Never be afraid to ask a question.  You weren't mad but there was clearly a discrepency so of course someone should be able to explain it.  Do things happen?  Yes.  But that doesn't mean you don't ask about it.  When you see the teacher, reiterate that you weren't upset but you WERE curious.

  • I would have done the same thing. I would worry if the log was different than what was actually eaten.
