NTTCALR GTKY Things that excite you...

No not like Gerard Bulter wearing next to nothing but like random everyday things to other people.

Does anyone else get excited about things like buying a new rug shampooer or vacuum? How about a grill? A washing machine? We have purchased all of these things in the past month and I must say I have been excited about every one of them.

Anyone else? Wanna share what you get excited about that others may not see the excitement in?

  • I asked my Mom for a rug shampooer for my 30th B-day. She thought I was nuts. I freaking LOVE that thing. She wanted to buy me a Coach bag but I vetoed it and went for the shampooer. There is nothing better than clean and sanitized carpets.

  • OMG, I want a new vacuum so bad!

I totally get excited over that kind of stuff.  For instance, DH asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I asked for a utensil holder that is on our wedding registry.  For Christmas we asked for BB&B gift cards so we could buy our comforter and a bunch of other stuff since we got 10% off.  Seriously, when I was single, I would ask for Nordstrom gift cards.  Now I'm asking for stuff for the house.  Creepy.

But of course I also asked for jewelery for myself too, hehe.  I'd like a ring to for our LO.

Yes yes, Embarrassed. The gril is mainly for DH's satisfaction and we were in the process of buying a house, but the bank screwed us out of it 3 days before close so we got a townhouse and have finally decided it's okay to spend some of the money on much needed things.

I wish I could get into a CSA around here that would be awesome!

We booked our big deep sea fishing charter for the year (it's in July) this week. Me? Excited. Very excited.

We are talking about doing a charter in the next few weeks (in AK that is a cold prospect) with a friend to go after winter feeder kings (salmon, big tasty salmon). I hope it happens and I'm excited just thinking about the possibility.

So, fishing on the ocean is apparently a sure-fire way to get me excited. Even when I am so depressed I can't bring myself to leave the couch during the day.

I am jealous! I love deep sea fishing! I haven't been in like 5 years! We are currently planning a cross country trip to Texas hitting like 14 states and in November a trip to Indiana to meet a bumpie and tailgate at a Purdue vs. Penn State football game! Can not wait!

  • I am all about the little things for sure ... Believe me, it doesn't take much! Just today I was excitedly explaining how we make our own laundry detergent, and how we spent just $10 on it in August ... Now it's March, and I can't even imagine how much money we've saved.

My boyfriend's Mom got us a cast iron griddle/grill for Christmas, and it is the best thing I've had in my kitchen for years! We use it almost every day for some reason or another, and it's nice to be able to "barbecue" again. (It's against the law to have grills on the decks here in Chicago, and it's not a lot of fun to run up and down three flights of stairs to a Hibachi on the sidewalk!) I highly recommend the cast iron skillet if you don't have one. It's awesome for chicken, fish, pancakes, grilled cheese, eggs ... I could really keep going here. Ha. Obviously I'm excited about it!

But one day, we dream of having a yard and a grill. One day.

I am all about the little things for sure ...

One day.

Okay so I am a Pinterest whore. I know I know but, I can not help it. Everytime I find something awesome or somethings time saving or money saving I tell DH and everytime he makes fun of me. Luckily he just laughs then says "Baby you are so cute" I love him.

...I was made fun of by my coworkers when I told them that DH let me get a Dyson vacuum for our anniversary a few years ago.  It still makes me happy every time I use it...

I also just got a new dryer a few weeks ago-We finally live in a house that has space for a washer and dryer and I bought the washer used and got a new dryer, you've never seen someone so happy to do laundry...you would be too if you've been washing clothes at your mil's for the past 4 years and fighting to make sure she doesn't snatch up your clothes and fold your underwear and bras every single time...

We also recently got an indoor grill, similar to a Foreman, DH was more excited about this than I, even though I am the only one who cooks Hmm

That last part literally made me lol. I can understand your excitement because my washer has like changed my life!

  • I get excited over calendars. And spreadsheets! I am such a dork. I just love getting organized, and am a very visual person, so mapping out my plans for the month on a calendar or creating a visual organization of something via spreadsheet gets me all hot and bothered.

    Couponing

    *Blush*

Have any tips? Because I'm failing miserably at this!!

Mine: I went NUTS when I finally got my new shop vac that will only be used indoors for cleaning. I literally spent 4 hours vacuuming everything! Otherwise it's pretty much everything we book/buy that is trip related that has me going bananas!

Well, I'm in Canada, so we don't have as good of a couponing ability, but I basically go to sites like save.ca, and  Gocoupons.ca etc. and I price match on top of using coupons.

I avarage about $40 in savings per week Big Smile

  • I LOVE finding great side of the road deals. We live in a fairly decent area, so people will throw really nice quality furniture out on the side of the road, all becuase they decided to upgrade!

DH and I have gotten a freezer (Put in the basement for frozen food storage) and a matching nightstand set for our spare room!

I am very visual as well, I make spreadsheets for random things all the time just to organize everything and make sure I have all the info.

We are planning a few trips and I have all these maps and travel guides for different states so I can see what there is to do and actually map things out.
