Activities with your LO

Can you tell I am trying to get some traffic going on this board?

Anyway, what are some fun things you are doing with LO that he or she enjoys?

Shiloh is into playing with us (she likes sorting and stacking), going for a ride in the jogger, and sitting in the grocery cart and taking in the sights.  We are starting swim lessons, and when it's nice outside I am getting a water/sand activity table and we plan to visit a neighborhood public pool.  I'd like to start doing art stuff but I still need to get a big roll of paper and so far she prefers trying to eat crayons to using them.  We have fingerpaints but I haven't broken them out yet.  We have a zoo membership so I am trying to start taking her there more (they have a train and a carousel and petting zoo, and she enjoys all those things).  She wants to be held the whole time though, if I put her back in the stroller after taking her out to see an animal enclosure, she gets melty.

I need more ideas!

Re: Activities with your LO

  • I'm jealous that you're close enough to Zoo Atl to have a membership. We're taking DD to the Jacksonville Zoo this weekend. I'm really excited to see how she reacts. She loves looking out the back door at home and watching the birds and squirrels, so it should be pretty fun.

Once it is warm out consistantly I want to get a baby pool for the back yard. I don't really feel like going to the community pool 7, 8, 9 months pregnant (I also don't want to buy a suit just for that either).

We go to the park often. She loves the swings and I go down the slide with her.

Then there are seasonal activities... Pick your own strawberries. The Budweiser horses are coming to town for St. Patty's Day, so we're going to see them at the stable on base. Easter Egg hunt.

  • It is just finally getting warm enough to spend longer periods of time outside, so Iz and I go for walks, run around the yard play fetch with the dog and the park. We also go visit the nursing home once in awhile as well.

In the house we read books, play with the shape box-match the shape block and put it in its correct hole. She also likes her blocks and building towers and playing with her dolls.

I also exercise with her. She is a great weight for doing squats and everytime you go up she laughs so much! It brings a smile to my face.

  • Joshua likes to go to the neighborhood playground and play on the swing.  He likes to sit on the counter at the ice rink and watch the game/practice through the glass from the snack bar.  At home we play ball a lot, pretnd play with an old cell phone, look at books, etc.

  • We go to Story Time at Barnes and Noble twice a week. The guy reads 2 books and then sings songs. Afterwards, they give out pictures to color and crayons. Most of the kids eat the crayons. Then, after that, we play by the trains and with some of the other kids and parents that we've met there.

At home, we play and do some chores.

Now that the weather is nice, we are walking outside and she LOVES it. She greets every single person that walks by (lots of people 'cause we live in an apartment complex), looks at the birds and squirrels, waves at the grass, touches the leaves, etc. I'll also start blowing bubbles with her.

I found that between the libraries and book stores, I can go to a free story time or mommy and me class at least twice a day every day of the week.

  • I'm so excited for it to get warm out, this week it's been in the 70's. :)

Inside activities: Read books, push her stuffed bunny in stroller, put bunny in play baby carrier, feed bunny, help me cook.  We go to the library once a week, and every other week we have a MOPS meeting (this is more for me!).  Usually once a week we have a playdate too.

Outside activities: Go for walks, to the park, and just play in the backyard.  I want to take her to the zoo and a wildlife preserve.  Also, I've heard the local park has a wading pool with sprinklers so we'll go there, since it's free.  I also want to take her to the local lake to swim, and maybe the pool if I'm feeling ambitious!

  • Em likes stroller rides to the park to feed the ducks, playing outside, doing anything with Aiden. We do swim lessons at the YMCA and this summer she'll get to start the tiny tumblers class there too. I'm starting to let her color more but her most favorite thing to do is to sit and snack with me :P

  • We are lucky enough to live close to the Wild Animal Park and San Diego Zoo. We have a membership and go there at least once a week. We also go for walks on the beach or to the local park if I am feeling lazy. We have a swingset with a swing for DD1 and DD2 in our backyard so they at least get that.

DD2 is really into walking now, so I need more ideas! She doesn't mind being in the stroller but if she is done she makes it known! I can't wait for beach days this summer

  • We've definitely been busier now that it's so nice out.

We joined The Little Gym and go once per week. JT loves the swings and slide at the park, he loves to take walks outside, (I) blow bubbles. I joined the MOMs group in town so we've done a few activities with them. They have at least 2 or 3 things every week (I've been too tired to participate in most or they are during his nap but I think we'll be getting more involved). He is also happy sitting in the shopping cart and going food shopping with me.

For Easter I want to get some coloring stuff to do, we have a kiddie pool we'll set up (only used it twice last year) in addition to our own big pool, he has a water table for when it's nice and I'll be joining the zoo. Not sure what else just yet...

Inside I can read to him all day and he'd be thrilled, he plays with building blocks, the Elefun, anything that plays music, a few ride on toys, wooden puzzles, and of course the phones (real and pretend) and remote controls.
