Walking--non clicky

How long did your LO pull up and walk around furniture before they started walking?  R. Has been pulling up for a couple weeks and just started walking around the furniture.  He really wants to just let go and walk, but keeps falling over.  He is really unbalanced so I can't imagine it will be soon, but just thought I'd hear from other parents.

I think my DD is in the minority. She pulled up at 7m and has been cruising easily since 8m. She is not walking yet, and she's a year old tomorrow. She can stand unassisted for any length of time and has taken up to about 8 steps unassisted, but she doesn't prefer walking and doesn't do it unless enticed. I think it's her personality at this point; she's very cautious!

  • Both my kids cruised along furniture, then stood unassisted, then walked (in that order).  It was less than a month before they were walking.  They both fell in the beginning too. It happens :)
  • DD1 was pulling to standing at 8 months and cruising within days of pulling up. She didn't walk unassisted until a week after her first birthday.

  • LO has been pulling up and walking around furniture since about 7.5 months. He has been taking steps on his own (sometimes not falling and others falling) from about 8.5 months. He isn't walking yet, but I'm thinking it will be soon. Hoping!

  • DD started pulling up and cruising around 7 months. She started taking unassisted steps without holding on last week and is now walking about 75% of the time now (crawling the other 25%). She turned 11 months on Monday so it took about 4 months but she was very cautious about letting go and walking!

  • DD started pulling up and cruising at 9 months, she's just about 11 months now and can walk about 5 feet before falling down. Very very soon she'll be fully walking.

DD was pulling up around 6 months, walking assisted around 8 months, standing for short periods by 9 months, and walking everywhere unassisted by 11 months. She grew up way too fast!
  • My LO is very speedy.  She's been pulling up since 7 months and crusing since 7 1/2 months.  Now she's standing on her own and takes a few steps before sitting and going back to crawling.

I expect she'll be walking soon.

  • DS started pulling up at 7 months, cruising properly at 8, standing on his own at 8.5, and took his first steps at 10. He now does about a dozen wobbly steps at a time before falling down.

  • DD started cruising around 7 months and walked at 11 months.  DS started cruising at 8 months, I think it will be awhile before he starts walking, but probably pretty close to when DD walked.

  • Every baby is different.

DS started pulling up and cruising at 7.5 months, took first steps at 8 months, and was walking full time unassisted by 9.5 months.

  • She was pulling up on things for about a month before she really got the cruising down. Then almost a month after getting the cruising down she started walking like a pro. She has been walking for almost 2 months and now she can climb playground equipment and run.

They will fall a lot in the beginning. What actually helped my LO is for her to be holding onto something (small stuffed animal, book, etc). For some reason that distracted her from overthinking the walking.

  • Pulling up at 7 months, cruising at 8, standing alone 9 months, walking (and falling) at 10 months and now at 11 months doesn't fall all that much.

  • N started pulling to stand when he was about 7 months and cruising on furniture about 2 weeks later.  He's now over 9 months and not walking yet.  He will let go briefly and stand unassisted but that's it so far.
