I guess I describe the magic age as a time where a switch just flips and LO is happy most of the time and you as a parent are starting to feel like you've got it somewhat together. And also what do you think caused that switch? Developmental milestone? Change in diet? Sleeping better?

Re: "magic age" there yet or still waiting? CP
At 7 months I really feel like DS is happy most of the time and the fussy times are less frequent. I think it's a combination of the fact that he just started to crawl so he can get to all of his toys but he can't go too far and the fact that the weather has been GORGEOUS and we have spent 70% of his awake time outside. He pushed two teeth through about 2 weeks ago but since he has been really happy.
So far, this is my favorite age. Of course I miss my tiny squishy newborn....but this age is so fun!
Maybe I should also add that I realize fussy periods will come and go. Next week it's highly likely that I will post that another tooth is coming in, he's into everything now that he can crawl, ect...
Maybe, too, I am in the minority? DS has two modes-really happy or pissed, there isn't a lot of in between! I just like that I am seeing more of the "really happy" these days : )

I could answer this in two different perspectives. The first being that DD became much "happier" around 4 month. But I think that was due to 1) colic subsiding, 2) figuring out the correct medication for her reflux, and 3) figuring out her allergies and cutting them all out of my diet. Things didn't necessarily get a whole lot easier for me at that point though since I cut out everything and was only eating oatmeal, chicken, and brown rice (my diet still mainly consists of this). So back then her fussiness was a "pain" cry.
The second answer of mine would be "still waiting...". She is still fussy a lot but I think it is just her temperment. She wants to be held constantly (which I do), naps are only 30 minutes long so awake time ends up being short, and she only sleeps about 2.5 hours at a time at the most at night.
I know exactly what you mean by "magic age". Right around 5 months when he was sitting up well, things got better during the day. He could play alone, enjoyed being upright, less fussing, etc. Then at 6 months he started crawling, we weaned from BFing and onto formula bottles, and he really made alot of strides as far as development. Ever since then I feel like I have passed through into this magical land on the other side of the difficult-rip my hair-out-forest. Things were really hard for a while. I full enjoyed the newborn time and being a FTM but I am so happy to be at this point now and not be so overwhelmed all the time.
LO is very independent, happy, fun, vocal, easy going and predictable now, which is pretty dang magical to me
! LOL!
