Do you come home and pump again, or do you dig into your freezer stash? Today I was only able to get in 2 pumping sessions, then picked up DD and she wanted to eat right away. I only got 8 oz today but luckily had enough from yesterday that makes up for it. What should I do when I come up short?
Re: when you don't pump enough at work
Like a pp said- if it were a one time thing, I'd pull from the freezer. Otherwise I'd add a pumping session in the hopes of upping my supply.
This happened to me on the first day back to work and I just pumped right before I went to bed. I haven't had the problem since (all two days
haha), but if it creeps up again I'll pump again.
I get up and pump once at night. It sucks, but it works for me.
If you are good most of the time, but come up short once in a while, then I would dip into your stash. But if you are short every day, like I am, then you should try to find a way to pump more.
I only pump at work -- I nurse DS mornings, nights, and weekends. I find that on Monday, I don't repond as well to the pump. I might only pump 12 or 13 ounces and he is eating 15 ounces while I am at work. But by Thursday and Friday, I am pumping close to 18 ounces, so it all balances out. So I dip into my freezer stash at the beginning of the week, but I am replacing it with extra from the end of the week.
I only pump twice at work, but won't add a 3rd session since I am doing fine overall.
