Two Under 2

Question from a possible future joiner...

DS is just quite 3 months yet. DH and I would love to start trying this summer for #2.

I'm worried about getting my stomach in shape. I've lost a lot of weight since being pregnant. However, that flabby tummy is still very there. I just started working out. However it seems like it might be stubborn.

Is it a good idea to try and get my stomach as toned as possible before going through pregnancy again? Or is there no real point?

  • I would continue to work out until (and during, but youll want to alter your workout some) you get pregnant. There isnt any harm to it and being in good shape while pregnant makes it a whole lot easier. I was glad I lost all the baby weight before getting pregnant again. It made it easier to get thin again after #2 was born.

All of this! Your body stretches so much when you are pregnant, if you don't go back to "square one" before starting again, you stretch out even more! (at least this has been my experience) It was so hard for me to get back in shape after #3 because I didn't get back to where I started.  I now have a long haul to get back to square one!

  • Do it! Get your muscles toned again before #2. I lost my belly right away after DD was born, but never got the muscles back in shape since I concieved again when she was 10 weeks old and now I am paying for it. I am in so much pain all the time because my muscles are so loose and trying to support this big belly I have now. My belly muscles hurt and my back muscles too. I actually don't know how I am going to do another 3 months of this, but I can't wait until the new baby comes just beccause this is so hard on my body. I am worried about being able to push this baby out too.

So yes, try to get toned a bit. Don't make the same mistake I did.
