I don't know much about it so I can't say this book is great but I did just see this book yesterday "Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way" By Mayim Bialik. She is an actress but she also has her PhD neuroscience.

I'd go with one of the Dr. Sears books. The Baby Book is a good choice because it offers what AP is, but also gives information on baby's development, milestones, how tos, etc. If you want to dig a bit deeper, you can try his Attachment Parenting Book, but honestly, in my experience, once you've read one Sears book, you've pretty much read them all, so you might as well get the most comprehensive one.
I enjoyed Beyond the Sling, but she is much more extreme than most AP parents and a lot of what she does (cloth diapers, EC, anti-vax. . .) are not AP principles, although you'll find that there is a lot of overlap between the 'natural' parents and AP parents.
I just read the no-cry sleep method and I found it very helpful! We are slowly working on getting her to sleep in her bassinet right now she is in our family bed.. The goal is by 6 months to hopefully get her to sleep in her crib but we are not in a hurry.

You can also read up on it at Attachment Parenting International.
