Even slightly?
Sometimes at night I get this very strange sensation in my belly - and at the same time I feel what I can only describe as slightly breathless.
This isn't painful at all - I used to think it was the baby actually changing positions, like flipping upside down or something. But now I'm wondering if it's really braxton hicks. It's happening a little bit more often now, but not with any regularity.
Re: Do Braxton Hicks take your breath away?
I'm 30 wks into my second pregnancy and this is happening to me VERY frequently. I'm pretty sure that you're describing Braxton Hicks, and I'll venture to say that the slight breathlessness is the result of muscles tightening around our already cramped diaphragm and lungs. Luckily, I haven't experienced any painful contractions... [so far] Soon you'll get comfortable enough with recognizing the Braxton Hicks to keep count, like I do. Congratulations on the pregnancy and Good Luck with the birth!
Thanks! Definitely not painful at all, not even really alarming, though the breathless sensation is odd.
I think you're right about the muscles contracting around my lungs/diaphragm - that is what it feels like - my lungs being lightly squeezed.
This is me too.

Ahh, so those are Braxton Hicks! I thought the exact same thing as you, OP. I was thinking it was the baby flipping around, too. Good to know!
