Bed sharing parents, would love to hear how you nap:)

Currently DD will nap in her bouncy chair, or in my arms. Do you put your little ones down to nap in the family bed? Do you lay down with them? DD hates her crib so that is out of the question for us right now, but she is outgrowing her bouncy chair and while I do love holding her while she sleeps, it's not always an option for me.

Would love to hear about your nap times. Thank you.

  • He napped a lot in the carrier (Ergo or mei tai) when he was smaller. Now, he naps in his crib.

  • Right now he either naps in the mei tei  or in my arms, or if we've had a long night, I take a nap with him in our bed (I WFH). We have a crib, but no mattress yet. Once we get a mattress, I'll try to put him down for naps; although when I try to put him in his co-sleeper, he doesn't stay down long. . .

  • Usually DS naps in my arms or if I can work it right, I'll wear the Ergo while I nurse him to sleep and then strap him in.  On rare occasions he'll fall asleep while already in the Ergo (if I'm wearing him).  DH can get him to nap in the Ergo, or in his arms, or sometimes manages to put him down in his Infant-to-Toddler rocker.  That's what they use at daycare and it's the only thing rated to carry his now 28-lb weight.

And sometimes I lie down with him in bed if we're both taking a nice long nap.

  • Lately, yes I lay down with him in our bed and wait until he falls asleep.  Then I sloooooooooowly roll out of the bed and watch him on the video monitor.

  • We try to either get her to nap in her RnP or in our bed. Sometimes when I set her down in our bed she will wake up so I will lay down with her for a few minutes then get up very slowly. She doesnt nap very long and we are working on trying to get her to nap longer, right now she only naps for 15 - 30 minutes every 2-3 hours.

  • I usually nurse her down for a nap in our bed and then quietly slip away so I can do other things. Or sometimes I stay and nap too! And of course other times I just hold her in my arms and bump from my phone :)

  • DS had to sleep in my arms until about a month ago.  Now, he naps in his swing (which he's quickly running out of room in as well) or I can get him to lay on his mattress which we recently side-car'd to our mattress.  I stay in the living room right next to our room with the door open so I hear him as soon as he stirs and it gives him practice on his mattress (plus, if for some strange reason he does manage to roll off, he'll only roll off about 3 inches onto carpet).

She would always sleep seriously where ever! Sometimes in bed if we napped with her, or alone in our bed, on the couch, in someones arms, on top of a blanket on the floor, her carseat. Yeah just about anywhere and every where! Crib never happened.

All of this.  We have a bed rail but ever since (DS is almost three now) DS was a little guy I would nurse him until he fell asleep, then I would nap with him or sneak away.  :)

  • He naps in various places throughout the day. His "default" is the crib and he sleeps in it fine, but if he falls asleep while nursing (he mostly will only nurse side-lying in our bed) I leave him there or nap with him. If he's extra fussy or hasn't napped well earlier in the day, I will wear him for a nap or two. He hated his crib for a while, but I would just rock him to a deep sleep and put him in the crib. Even if he woke up after 15 minutes, I would try again for the next nap. I think he slowly got more comfortable with it and now he'll take 2 hour naps in there, no problem.

Same here.  You must learn to master the slow roll!

  • She has napped perfectly fine in the middle of our King Sized bed since she was about 6-7 months old. Sometimes I nap with her but mostly I dont. She is not a "sleep mover" ( weird, I know) so I havent been worried about that.

ETA: my bed is on the floor, so her rolling off is not horrible.
