Running?!

I'm 21 years old and 5 weeks pregnant in pretty good shape. I teach dance, cheerleading, and gymnastics and up until a month or so ago I was doing different work-out programs kind of sporadically, one of which was Insanity. I ran every once in a while and trained for a 1/2 marathon about a year and a half ago. I feel like I could still easily go out and run a few miles. However, since running isn't something I did ALL the time before is it a no-no now that I'm pregnant? I miss it now that the thought is there that I CAN'T do it. The main reason I haven't been recently is because it's cold out, but as the weather is getting warmer I'm starting to miss it. What do you think?

Re: Running?!

  • I have been running through-out my pregnancy but I have also been running almost every single day for the past 5 years and am a marathoner and ultra marathoner.  I personally would not start running now if I were you.  Pregnancy is not the time to start a new exercise regimen.

  • I would ask your OB. They know you better than we do and can better tell if it is something safe you can do...
