I have to make a decision within a couple of weeks on bcp. I don't want to take a pill everyday and I'm not ready for anything permanent. I had mirena before but I had a rare side effect where the string grew into my cervix. So I was thinking if the copper iud or the implanon. Does anyone have experience with these? ( excuse typos im typing and nursing).

Re: S/O birth control.. Copper iud and or implanon question (nbr)
I'm seriously considering implanon if I ever get forgetful with the mini pill. The downside is that my OB did say that there is occasional breakthrough bleeding with it, which can often be treated with estrogen (unfortunately not something I can take). Otherwise I love the idea of implanon and will probably get one eventually.
I personally wouldn't get an IUD b/c I've seen women come to the OR to have them surgically removed after they migrated out of the uterus, both paragard and mirena. Given that I've only seen a few dozen and IUDs are very common for birth control, I'm sure it's a very rare side effect. But it's not one I care to chance.
