Stay at Home Moms

Next birthday question

Yes, I know I am overthinking this. Yes, I know I am overdoing it. Yes, I know she won't remember or care. Yes, I know the party is really only because I never had big parties growing up....

Now that we have had our therapy session...how far in advance would you send invites? And how far in advance would you ask for an RSVP? I am not hiring catering, but will be making a run to Costco to get stuff for hot dogs and hamburgers, etc.

I was thinking sending out about 3 weeks before and asking for an RSVP a week before. That would give me a chance to track down everyone who doesn't RSVP.

Thanks! I appreciate getting other moms PIV.

Re: Next birthday question

  • I try to send invites 3-4 weeks before and the RSVP the week before.

  • I send out invites 3-4 weeks before the event.  If the party is April 1st, I would send them out March 2nd-March 8th ish.

Also, I plan and organize a lot of parties, I don't even bother asking people to RSVP anymore.  No one does.  I always put "Regrets only" and my phone number, and then just plan that everyone is coming unless they call me to tell me they aren't.  It works well for me.

  • I agree with everyone else.  3-4 weeks.  We are pushing the 3 week mark now for DS so I have to get on this.  Thanks for the reminder.

  • That seems perfectly reasonable.
  • I agree. I usually send invites 3-4 weeks in advance, and expect RSVP's one week before the event.
