Painful Sex in Third Tri

I'm sure this has been asked before, but please bear with me as I can't stand the search function - it never works properly for me.

I'm just curious about why it hurts for me to have sex with DH. I mean, obviously it's hard to get into a comfy position, but I'm not talking about that kind of pain. I'm talking about pain down there, like I'm suddenly a virgin again. Am I tightening up because I have reservations about having sex that I'm unaware of? Or is there something else at play? I feel like it has to be the latter. It's quite uncomfortable and I'm a little worried it's going to be this way after the pregnancy too. Any thoughts?

    I know that its painful for me because I'm super swollen in my lady bits region... it's not so pleasing...

    I didn't realize you could be swollen down there as well. I guess everything just swells up during pregnancy.

    Sex has been uncomfortable for me since first trimester...DH and I haven't had much time together unless you count "fooling around"..I asked my OB and he said the vag changes during pregnancy and some women find sex pleasurable, others not..and there is really nothing to be done about it.. :( I would not worry about afterwards--I think everything will go back to normal..

    Thanks. I would like to know how it changes and why it's uncomfortable. My personality is to just know everything. My doctors love it. lol. I hate it when they tell me, "it's normal" and that's it, but that's often the answer I get. Sigh.

    Sex has been painful, as well as internal exams. The doctor says it just depends on the position of the cervix and where the baby is.

    It is really normal to get swollen down there. Now I have Madonna in my head. "Like a virgin, touched for the very first time. Like a viiiiiiirgin......"
