My colleagues (I work at a church) told me today that the congregation would like to present us with a "bigger" gift, after baby is born when they meet him. So incredibly generous! They'd like ideas of what to get us.
My challenge is that the "bigger" items we knew we needed..we've got (and would need, mostly, before he arrives): stroller, carseat, crib, changing table, book/toyshelf, swing. My MIL already got us the high chair.
So, what "bigger" items (I'm guessing $200-$300) might we need/want after baby is born? I was thinking carseat for when he's a little bigger or an outdoor baby climber for next summer as ideas...but other suggestions? I'd ask for a membership to the children's museum or zoo, but I think he'll be a bit young for that right away.
It could be something unique and special, too. Obviously, this is a generous surprise--but since they are asking for what we want, I'm trying to provide real suggestions:) Thanks!!
Re: "Big" baby gift ideas needed
A convertible carseat would be good. Other thoughts would be a gift card for diapers/wipes, or a contribution to a savings account/college fund for the baby.
You could also get a decent digital camera or video camera for capturing memories if you need one of those.
The one thing that I would enjoy most would be a session with a good newborn photog. Those things aren't cheap (depending on your area), but the memories and images they capture are amazing, and you'll never get those back!
