East Coast Dates

This thread is for dates only.

Write down the dates that you are 90% sure you will be able to make.  If your attendance is dependent upon location list the location next to the date.  I'll compile a final list after everyone responds here.

ETA - I used a "find the middle" program and apparently we should all meet in Randolph, NJ.  I used exact addresses for those of you I know, and used cities for those whose addresses I don't have with me.  Anyone want to research Randolph? lol!

Randolph is do west of NYC so NYC really does seem to be the middle location....but that's for another thread. Stick out tongue

Re: East Coast Dates

  • March 31

Any weekend in April (aside from the holiday)

I will go anywhere that is about 3hrs from DC (with the exception of NYC proper for reasons detailed in my previous post.)

I didn't go into May, but most of it is out for me between Mothers Day, the kids'' birthday, and Memorial Day. :)

  • April 21 is my first choice

I could probably make the 31st work (but we'd probably cut it very short on Sunday)

eta - May 12 could work for me also

All locations suggested to date are fine with me and dont impact my dates (fwiw i didnt vote in the previous poll on location).

  • The weekend of May 19th or May 5th are the clearest weekends for me, with March 31 being my second choice.

The weekends of April 14th or 28th I could do one day, but I have something the other day for both of those weekends (dang, when did my schedule get so full?!).

The 21st would be hard but I could make the Saturday work if I had to.

I'd prefer Philly because a hotel isn't in the cards for us at the moment (a bunch of unusual expenses this month), so that way I could join everyone for more. But I definitely want to see you guys, so I'd do day trips to NJ or NY.

  • This is me, no way to check with S right now, but I'm pretty sure she's also free these dates. I'm writing down the Saturdays, but we'd plan to come and stay Sat night and hang out Sun if anyone wanted to.

    Mar. 31 - maybe - Philly only

    Apr. 14
    Apr. 21

    May 12
    May 19
May 26 (we have a holiday Mon the 28th so we'd probably stay Sat & Sun night)

  • Randolph is pretty inconvenient from 95 for new england and dc/bmore people.  Newark or Edison or Trenton would probably be a bit better geographically, and still closer to Albany too.  But I think they're all somewhat sketchy cities...(never been to any but an ASPCA in Newark and that's another story.  ;)

As for dates any suggested so far are fine except the holiday weekend.  All suggested locations fine.

ETA: Ppl started suggesting May dates.  May 12th would be tough but possible, and May 19th and 26th are not possible.

    I lived in Randolph from 4.5y-7y. :)

Who are all of the people who suggested NY/NJ and do they have suggestions of what to do???

I voted for NYC.  I'm not opposed to Philly but it's a 4.5 hour car ride (without stops) and I'll likely be going with my parents in May when they come to visit.  I would do anything in NYC.  Usually Jelly Bean and I just stroll around, grab lunch someplace we can sit outside. Play in the park. Ride the subway.  It would be really easy to plan something (museums and happy hours galore) if that is what people want to do.

Did Two know this??  (And also Cymru??)   What a small world.  I'm not opposed to Randolph if others are interested :-P.  Google maps says just under an hour for me.

Well, you know it was the mid 70s, so it's been awhile. :)

ETA: I just Googled it and Randolph is 4hrs 10m from our house. L and I were talking tonight and I am not sure I am willing to drive 4hrs each way since 1) We most likely can't take off a Friday/Monday 2)my kids are crappy passengers (like me) and mutiny starts to set in around hr 3 (ask me how fun the 10 hr trip to my parents was!) and 4) it is a long time for them to be in a car that is more an event for me than them (though they will love to see Sprout!) That being said, make plans for the great good and if I can be there, I will and if not, I expect to see pictures!!! :)

Fair enough.  It still seems pretty random to me, but maybe that's because I had never heard of Randolph until I looked it up earlier today.

  • Our calendar is ridiculously up in the air right now with the move and everything that needs to happen between now and then, so I won't even try to figure out our availability. I'll do my best to join everyone, though, so when we have a date, I'll try to make it work!

FWIW, I don't think Edison is sketchy.  I have a friend who grew up there and I visited her a few times; it seemed like a normal middle- to upper-middle-class suburb to me (definitely not in the same league as Newark or Trenton, although I haven't been to either so I'm just going on reputation).  This was 15-20 years ago but I doubt it's gone THAT far downhill.  And I believe it is convenient to both the Turnpike and the Parkway.  Don't know what's fun to do around there, though -- we were in high school at the time and we just went to the mall!

That said, I can't actually commit to any travel right now, which is why I haven't been participating in the GTG discussions...so I'm not actually suggesting Edison as a location, just throwing in my 2 cents!
